Mr. WEO Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 You mean the first true offense? Yep, he had an illegal weapon in a box in the trunk of his car. He got a wholly appropriate misdemeanor and fine for a first-time, non-violent, non-threatening case. It's not like he got away with anything there, like Stallworth did in his case or Marshall did in his cases. Actually chief, I was asking for your thoughts on Sir Roger's reported 4-game suspension of Vick. You have to think he's as retarded as I thought he was for Lynch's suspension. Well? ML was warned. He decided that he didn't need to take the Commish seriously. (He also decided he didn't have to return your creepily unconditional devotion and similarly showed he didn't give a sh***t about his non-crazy fans.) For the one millionth time, I think ML got what he deserved. I think Vick should have gotten worse. What is preventing you from comprehending this. oh...that's right. And talk about non-comprehension! The stuff about Vick, his winning percentage, and taking his team to the playoffs and winning was sarcasm, given your Flutie taint-licking. And something tells me you had the same dislike of Vick even before the dog killing. "Something tells you"??? It was ME! Many times, in fact. Those were not the voices in your head. wow.
seadog Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 lolwut? I'd take a QB that can throw for 2500 yards and run for 1,000 more, an overall threat to score running or passing on every down over JP Loss-man every day of the week and twice on Sundays. Can you honestly say that Vick would be a worse option than anyone in our current stable of QBs? Maybe if you like qb's that give the fans the middle finger. The guy is a total ass clown. He acts like a punk and has no respect for the game or the fans. He just wants to get millions so he can smoke weed and bet on dog fights. His stats besides running are pedestrian. A qb is supposed to manage the game and distribute the ball not take off running every other snap, thats what running backs are for. Look at Atlanta with Vick and Atlanta with Ryan. Ask Atlanta fans which they prefer.
The Dean Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 \It's not like we've gotten anywhere with Trent that would warrant thinking of him as a more effective option than Vick. Of course they have. JP is an athletic QB that can make plays outside of the pocket and with his feet, but has questionable mental skills. He may not be as athletic as Vick, but it became clear at the start of the 2007 season that DJ and company were not going to coach to JP's strength (which he showed at the end of the 2006 season). They simply will not allow that kind of QB to excel.
/dev/null Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 but it became clear at the start of the 2007 season that DJ and company were not going to coach to JP's strength I love the argument that they didn't coach to JP's strength. Ever wonder if they were coaching to hide JP's weakness? Just a thought

For the one millionth time, I think ML got what he deserved. I think Vick should have gotten worse. What is preventing you from comprehending this. oh...that's right. Oh, you think Vick should have gotten worse? Yet Lynch deserved what he got. And you're pissed because HE screwed you over, not Goodell? Makes perfect sense. Any Bills fans should be incensed that a dog-killer and pot smoker (what was that you said about Lynch allegedly smoking pot again?) received just ONE game more than Lynch. Oh...that's right. "Something tells you"??? It was ME! Many times, in fact. Those were not the voices in your head. wow. Sorry if I can't keep track of every wacky thing you say. And that certainly makes your creepy unconditional devotion to Flutie as pathetic as it originally sounded. At least Vick won a playoff game, while posting a better winning percentage and stats in a shorter period of time.
Big Turk Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 I love the argument that they didn't coach to JP's strength.Ever wonder if they were coaching to hide JP's weakness? Just a thought His number one strength was holding the ball too long in becoming the 16th most sacked QB by percentage of dropbacks in the history of the NFL(well, at least since they started keeping sacks)...
/dev/null Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 A thought for sure. But not one that rings true to me. Hey if that offensive line could have blocked any better and those WRs could have done a better job getting open, and those NFL defenses were more willing to let JP learn how to read them. Then maybe that argument may have rung a little better to you And then maybe the haters like me wouldn't have ruined JP's career

Then maybe that argument may have rung a little better to you And then maybe the haters like me wouldn't have ruined JP's career Take a look at how JP performed the last half of the 2006 season, when the coaches played to his strengths. Then see what they did to start the 2007 season. It was a total 180 in style. You don't have to like JP to see they didn't play the same game as they did at the end of the previous season. And even if you don't think he could have succeeded had they done so, Dick has demonstrated that he isn't one to game plan to a QB that thrives outside of the pocket, or can make plays with his feet. It's ludicrous to think Vick could run the current Bills offense better than Edwards (or the likely backups, IMO).

And of course the fact that he dropped off later is the fault of the coaching staff that helped him achieve those stats but not a result the rest of the league figuring out how to defend him And just because I'm a JP hater as defined by TSW doesn't mean I hate JP. I've wanted him to succeed since he got here, but he just isn't a very good QB. The fact that I pointed this out repeatedly (and correctly) has labeled me a hater Sorry, but the JP Kool-Aid® never tasted right

You either observed that, or you didn't. Forget what you think about JP, as that wasn't the gist of my comment (although I know it's hard for some of you to pass taking a JP shot). It was meant to demonstrate the approach of the current coaching staff, not as praise for JP.

I'll also give Rick Mirer props for one hell of a rookie season. That seemed to have worked out well for him
VOR Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 If it will make you happy, I'll give JP mad props for half a season.I'll also give Rick Mirer props for one hell of a rookie season. That seemed to have worked out well for him Mirer had a 56.4% completion percentage, 2833 yards, 12 TD's and 17 INT's, and was sacked 47 times his rookie year. Are you thinking of another Rick Mirer?
VJ91 Posted July 25, 2009 Posted July 25, 2009 I think a lot you of you guys are just friggen stupid. Yes I said it, stupid. I'm not questioning your academic minds, for many of you are a lot smarter than me book wise, but common sense wise and being open minded, I don't know about some of you. The facts are Vick was already suspended indefinitely when the allegations started to become facts. This is the 2nd suspension Goodell has given him. Vick will be suspended twice for the same thing. So Vick has not received a NFL pay check in over 2 yrs because the indefinite suspension has lasted until now. I think Goodell is doing this to please the rabid fans like yourselves who want more blood to shed. Vick has already been destroyed, punished and embarrassed beyond belief. (Although it is well deserved) Just kick a man while when is down, what else do you people want to do to this man? Let him and the rest of the world move on. I think he has learned his lesson, don’t you? I think you are confusing his crimes with the fact that he is a convicted criminal. We all thought he was a monster when this all first came out. Now, because it was only dogs he tortured and killed, some of you think he has served his debt to society, lost his fortune, gone through bankruptcy, and so he should be forgiven. Maybe your're right, and maybe you're wrong. I look at how much my family and I love our goofy mutt Major, and I can not forgive this idiot for doing what he did while he was signed for over 100 Million dollars to play football! And I'm on record on this board believing that going to jail for at least one day, after sentencing, should be an automatic life-time ban from the privilage, (not the right), of playing football in the NFL. I consider myself having plenty of common sense about life. It makes common sense to me that with all the money these athletes earn, the commissioner should be able to draw the line at not allowing convicted felons back into the league. Or at the very least, not allow convicted felons who actually spend time behind bars, back into the leauge. So forgive him or not, he has gone through the justice system of our greatest country on earth and certainly deserves the chance to start over and begin working somewhere again. Just not as a player in the greatest sports league in the world, ever, again. That is my opinion. Next on Goodell's docket, will be Donte Stallworth. OK, he only served 24 days in jail, and the guy walked right in front of his car, and the guy's family have already settled a civil suit with Stallworth. But guess what, Stallworth was behind the wheel and hit a man that died. He admitted his guilt, was convicted of a crime, and served time in jail. He should also be banned for life from the NFL. If that rule was on the books, maybe Vick never evens starst killing dogs, and maybe Stallworth would have had a limo drive him home knowing he was over the legal limit of alcohol, and crimes plus jail = lifetime ban from NFL. Hey, even our own dunce Marshawn Lynch may have not been doing such stupid things with his free time if he knew (or was advised) that if he gets convicted and serves jail time, he will never play again. Who knows?

It's interesting that if introduce JP into an example and don't trash him, then some here can't follow the point of the story. Their mind locks onto "JP sucks". I actually thought you were a little brighter than that. I guess I was wrong.
Steely Dan Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Here's some articles to check out: Linky Vick might be doing some stuff for the Humane Society. PETA breaks off talks with Vick to do PSA for them. PETA believes that this revelation, along with other factors in the report, fit the established profile for anti-social personality disorder (APD), and we called on Vick to have a brain scan to help confirm this. People diagnosed with APD are commonly referred to as "psychopaths." They are usually male, prone to lying and manipulation, often take pleasure in cruelty, and cannot feel genuine remorse, which frequently leads to recidivism. Old news but I thought some may not know about this stuff.
Jerry Jabber Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 There hasn't been a ruling as of yet. I don't know where this story of "4 games" circulated. But what I did find interesting is that this piece of sh@t is supposedly trying to get back in the NFL & show he's a changed man, but he's hanging out at strip clubs. This scum bag needs to be banned from the NFL for life. I'm so sick of hearing Vick should get a second chance and you can't take away his livelihood of playing football. He blew his chance at the NFL, if I were to lie to my employer about committing a felony then admitting to it, I would be fired in a heart beat and would have a hard time finding a job. It's a privilege to play in the NFL, not a right.
