BLZFAN4LIFE
This morning on XM radio (the loft) I heard Neil Young's song Albuquerque. Although I consider myself a Neil Young fan, I've never heard this song. I was pleased to "discover" such a simple yet powerful song. "Albuquerque" Well, they say that Santa Fe Is less than ninety miles away, And I got time to roll a number and rent a car. Oh, Albuquerque. I've been flyin' down the road, And I've been starvin' to be alone, And independent from the scene that I've known. Albuquerque. So I'll stop when I can, Find some fried eggs and country ham. I'll find somewhere where they don't care who I am. Oh, Albuquerque, Albuquerque Video This leads me to pose two questions. 1. Any good Neil Young/Neil Young concert stories? I saw a pretty good show in Charlotte 8/96 with Crazy Horse. An up-and-coming Jewel was the opening act. 2. The question that I would most like to get the ball rolling on, do you know of any "hidden gems" or "deep cuts" by popular artists. Here are two of mine: Warren Zevon - Accidentally Like A Martyr. Van Morrison - Days Like This.

He was skinny in not a good way...The skin was just flapping off his bones .Was a decent show-not great.Probbly his heroin period.

I was never a huge Neil Young fan, only moderate, until 1993, my girl friend (a huge NY fan) coerced me into spending a few hundred dollars (which was a lot at that time) to take her to see him at the cavernous Irwin Center, here in Austin. The place is a horrid music venue, but we sat in the second row, just slightly left of dead center... Booker T and the MGs were his backing band...it was the "Harvest Moon" tour... I was blown away, and have been a much bigger Neal Young fan since then... guy is a great performer, IMO. I was blown away by the power of his guitar playing...I know, from a prvious thread about guitar players, the music snobs here think he sucks on the six string, but I strongly disagree... still, to this day, one of my all time favorite shows... The Senator
I'll stay with the same 2 artists... (a very young Zevon, w/Jackson Browne) Morrison - These Are The Days (from Avalon Sunset - one of Van's more 'spiritual' albums)
NorCal Aaron
Neil Young was in a band with the Prince of Punk Funk, Buffalo's own Rick James.
BLZFAN4LIFE
I'll stay with the same 2 artists... (a very young Zevon, w/Jackson Browne) Morrison - These Are The Days (from Avalon Sunset - one of Van's more 'spiritual' albums) Great calls Senator. I'll add Jackson Browne - Call it a loan ( I searched but couldn't find a video that does the song justice) Lyrics In the morning when I closed my eyes You were sleeping in paradise And while the room was growing light I was holding still with all my might Oh--what if its true ...what my heart says Oh--whatll I do What if this feeling becomes hard to part with You were meant to play your part In the design of a desperate heart And while you gave your love to me I was betting I was getting it free Oh-- if Id only known ...what your heart cost Oh-- can we call it a loan And a debt that I owe On a bet that I lost In the evening when you see my eyes Looking back at you, no disguise Im not sure who you think youll see Im just hoping youll still know that its me Oh-- what if its true ...better ask the man inside Oh, oh-- there seem to be two One steals the love, and the other one hides. Yeah-- can we call it a loan Till Im paid in full for the seeds Ive sown Yeah-- can we say that Ive grown In someway that we may have yet to be shown Oh-- if Id only known ...what your heart cost Oh-- can we call it a loan And a debt that I owe On a bet that I lost Elton John -
