Man fired for getting married.....

Interesting situation as it raises several legal and perhaps moral questions. While I would have to read the guy's contract to be sure sounds like the town was within their rights to release the guy (again assuming they stuck to whatever the separation terms were). had he not been under contract he would have attorney' lining up to sue the town (and likely still will anyway).

So, this town of 6,500 people (2000 census) needs a town manager and pays him/her $100,000/year? Right off the bat I question their intelligence and judgment.

Let me get this right. A florida official gets fired merely for being married to a porn star and a married Governor of a Southern State uses state money to go to Argentina to play the two backed monster with a sweety on the state dime being absent for over a week from any duties of the state govt and then makes a fool of himself on national tv and keeps his job? What a country!

Best one on the planet. However, if this guy worked for a French town they probably would have memorialized him with a bronze statue in the town square.

I saw this story on one of the talkies the other day, and it seems, you are right. There was a clause in his contract about representing the city in a manner consistent with the morals of the city, and also, a clause saying that he (or any city employee) could be rightfully terminated if there was a majority vote for termination. I am not saying I necessarily agree with the guys firing, only that they seemed to be covered by his signed contract. Funny thing is, from what they said, he was considered an excellent manager up until this time....

Don't forget to tip your waitress....

And base wages for waitresses rise today.

The waitress makes much more that the bus boy. A waitress that can't garner 3 bucks in tips in an hour is either a screaming POS with the public, or needs to get a better gig. What a hard job...take an order, bring it to a table, then ask before a bite is taken...is it OK? Or don't bother to write and order down, have the cheek to tell one their 1st name and tell you how they will be your server. When they FU, they will blame others - possibly you, the paying customer.

If you resist the extortion, next time you may experience delays or body fuids being deposited on that meal you pay for.

I have worked as a bus boy. The wait staff got free food; I got told to go and scrub something.

And hiding income is Waitress 101...the popular opinion, echoed by politicians seeking votes, is that waitresses are so, so downtrodden. You may well get free phone and cable service, free heat, free care for you kids (an unmarried female with court-ordered custody being the basic family unit these days), possible Section 8 housing - that's capped at 30% of your reported income.

Become a waitress, Ray.

I have seen the so-called downtrodden waitresses exchanging 50, a hundred, two hundred one dollar bills for 20's in bars. All my life.

Cincy, I love you man, but you are really making some very broad generalizations here (nothing new around here, I know)... you make it sound like every waitress is a pole dancer at a Vegas strip bar or something... I think you are a little out of touch here...

I think the real pornography here is a town of 6,500 having a full time manager. And apparently they pay that manager $100,000/year.

That does seem a bit 'out of whack' - especially seeing as Buffalo has a population of 270K and Mayor Brown's salary is $105K.

If it's pornography you're looking for, take a look at this filth...

While i don't think $105K is too much to pay a mayor of a city as big as Buffalo (which is obviously a full time job) there is one thing that sticks out on that link. There are a LOT of Buffalo city employees with the same last name. I would hope all the Adams', Allen's, Andersons', Barrett's, Brown's, Burke's, Cunningham's, Davis', Delano's, Donovan's (well, you get the picture) aren't related to each other.
