Which is just huge. It goes to show you that without a good D, you're probably not seeing the playoffs.

That isn't what the data say. The data say that if you have a top 10 D, you are likely to go to the playoffs.

What percentage of teams with top 10 offenses made the playoffs the past few years?

Back to school for you, Skooby.

I hate to say it but think our D could take a step back this year. As am really worried about the loss of Greer and just wonder if Schobel can return and have big time question marks on Maybin.

Another thing that should be noted is, this conversation is already going on in another thread...and you know it:

You posted in that thread BEFORE stating this one.

WTF is wrong with you, anyway?

I have found statistical data that suggests a deeper meaning than was originally posted over there and you wanted a stat argument that I am backing up. What do you have to suggest anything to the contrary of the facts I have presented?? As soon as I back stuff up, you have to go personal on us. Back it up or back down, your choice.

No. You asserted the Bills MUST have a top 10 D, even if they have a top 5 offense. You have only shown that a good D helps you make the playoffs.

Duh.

That doesn't address your point, that a team CAN'T succeed with a top 5 offense, but a defense that isn't in the top 10. In fact, you have proven it IS possible to make the playoffs without a top 10 D (irrespective of the offensive rank, apparently).

Duh #2.

You were more likely to make the post season with a top 10 defense than a top 10 offense.

True.

So?

I will be more than happy to make a bet with any of you:

My bet is that At Least two teams this year to make the playoffs will not have a top-10 defense (this doesn't include ties)

Any takers?

Obviously you are not familliar with the science of statistics. You may want to go over the stats from 20+ to 30+ seasons, then calculate your percentages.

Simpleton translation: Skooby, you have size issues. Sample size, that is.

Read a book instead of this drivel, even if its the one where you have to find Waldo, the rest of us would like to have some time to post meaningful items and discuss amongst ourselves.

Wait -- slow down -- so what you're saying is that if a team has a good defense, its chances of making the playoffs increase? Hold on, I need to look into this revelation a little deeper.

No kidding.

Actually, what Skooby was originally trying to prove was this statement:

For all that are happy with a middle of the road defense, I salute you. Even if we make it to the top 5 on offense, we are going no where without a top 10 D to hold us up in some of the important games.

Of course he failed miserably at trying to defend that. So, now he has decided he was simply saying "It is good to have a top 10 D"

Again, my response is "Duh".
