major Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/9806792...versy?GT1=39002 I can't believe they (writers from Fox Sports) have us down as ripe for a QB controversy. I don't see that happening unless Trent gets hurt again and Fitzpatrick lights it up.
Lori Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Fans may have been surprised that Buffalo made the list, but it's because of all the pressure on Trent Edwards. This is what happens when you sign Terrell Owens and take the heat off a very good receiver in Lee Evans. The fans in upstate New York now expect to win while forgetting that Edwards lost his blindside protector in Jason Peters and will be minus all-purpose back Marshawn Lynch for the first three games of the season. That's a recipe for failure for a third-year quarterback earning just $460,000 and wanting a new deal with backup Ryan Fitzpatrick earning a whole lot more. We do? We have? Obviously, Czar doesn't read this board.

The Senator Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Since I don't expect Jauron to throw the position to open competition in camp, I don't expect any controversy - unless, of course, Edwards looks bad early on, then gets injured, and Fitzpatrick steps up and looks great.
H2o Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/9806792...versy?GT1=39002 I can't believe they (writers from Fox Sports) have us down as ripe for a QB controversy. I don't see that happening unless Trent gets hurt again and Fitzpatrick lights it up. First Edwards has to get hurt (possibility high) then Fitz has to "light it up" (possibility low).
SageAgainstTheMachine Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 So let me break this down...The Czar thinks that we will have a "QB controversy" because... 1) The fans want Trent to win games for the Bills, but we've somehow "forgotten" about Jason Peters being gone (I wonder exactly how many Bills fans he's spoken to) 2) Fitzpatrick makes more money than Trent 3) We now have another big offensive weapon, which puts more pressure on him I don't really get this. I guess this proves that you can spin anything into a negative. I can't believe Czar actually thinks adding TO makes Trent less likely to succeed.
The Senator Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Oh yeah...that's right....I completely forgot that FatBoy Peters is gone
/dev/null Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 A Yale man gives the starting job to a Harvard man? Poppycock!

ajzepp Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 It's got nothing to do with Fitzpatrick. Apparently Jauron is about to sign another CB to compete with Trent for the starting QB spot.
Dante Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 A quarterback duke out between Edwards and Fitzpatrick just seems funny to me. It's like a couple of guys fighting it out for the #3 qb spot on a decent team.
The Dean Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 I haven't done an analysis, but I wouldn't be surprised if 50% of "quarterback controversies" are creations of lazy sports talk radio hosts (and traditional media sports reporters, too). But at least they usually wait for some credible opportunity before stirring up the passions of the most clueless fans. This one seems to be made of "whole cloth". Don't get me wrong, I like the addition of Fitzpatrick. But there is no QB controversy on the horizon in Buffalo. That doesn't mean there couldn't be one down the line, but that is true of nearly every team.
DIE HARD 1967 Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 I am always amazed how these sports writer can load garbage on their keyboard, target a subject, write, then keep a straight face.

RayFinkle Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I thought Lynch had a 2 game suspension....is it actually 3?
The Dean Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I thought Lynch had a 2 game suspension....is it actually 3? It currently stands at 3 games. The appeal has yet to be heard.

SKOOBY Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 If they clone a 29 year old Jim Kelly, Fox may be right.
Tcali Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 I thought Lynch had a 2 game suspension....is it actually 3? we're fine without him for 3 games.....not in the long run..but for 3 games yeah
