Steely Dan Posted July 14, 2009 Author Posted July 14, 2009 Here's the after: proceed with caution. Umm, that's not what I mean. Do you know the body part that the slang words "fish taco" refer to?

yall Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 'Nuff said. I get the "joke" but is this seriously the first time you've heard of fish tacos?
Steely Dan Posted July 14, 2009 Author Posted July 14, 2009 I get the "joke" but is this seriously the first time you've heard of fish tacos? It's the first time I've seen them marketed on TV.
IDBillzFan Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 It's the first time I've seen them marketed on TV. Never been to California, eh, Beavis?
Cugalabanza Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Probably intentional marketing, considering their customer base. "Long John" + "fish taco." Cunning linguistics.
The Big Cat Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Never been to California, eh, Beavis? That was my first thought. All the Golden Staters I played water polo with went googoogaga for fish tacos (the food variety). Personally, I find them bland and over-rated.
buckeyemike Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Dave & Buster's has sold them for years. Actually, fish tacos taste better than they sound.

Personally, I find them bland and over-rated. Probably because you've never had a good one. I'm referring to both incarnations.

I am, by no means, a seafood person unless we're dealing with meatier seafood like lobster, rock shrimp, etc. But a good fish taco, especially at a place like Wahoos, is anything but overrated.
RayFinkle Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Probably because you've never had a good one. I'm referring to both incarnations. A "fish taco" and a "long john"?

Or better yet from a cart in Santa Anna from a guy who doesn't speak English. Which is not hard seeing no one in Santa Anna speaks English.

We make them at home on occasion using, of all things, a recipe from a CIA cookbook my wife got me years ago. It tends to be a bit lime-intensive, but that's probably why I dig them so much
The Senator Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Never been to California, eh, Beavis? I enjoyed 10 delicious fish tacos one Tuesday nite at... OB's Grill & Bar

Is Wahoos a chain? I think that may have been the name of the place we went to. It was in Manhattan Beach, and this was five years ago, but that sounds right.
