Alphadawg7 Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 ..45 seconds left in the half. Bills have the ball on their 47. All their time outs left. When will Dick pull a Jauron?-We all know what that means .Running the ball into the center of the line 3 times--running the clock out. Now of course there are variations on the score/situation.But in 98% of the situations a winning team aggressively goes for 7 points and maybe settles for 3. So...when will Dick pull a Jauron?? 1st game?? 2nd game?? 3rd game?? I just love all these posts referencing the same game (clearly the Cle game) as to point out DJ's shortcomings yet they completely ignore the fact that our QB was having not only his worst game ever, but CLEARLY without a shadow of a doubt was shaken all game. Lets review the facts: 1. Our kicker = Very dependable and accurate 2. FG = Win and it was a makeable 43 yard FG that had plenty of distance, he just shanked it... 3. Any loss of yards from a bad sack or fumble (something Trent is prone to do) takes us out of range. 4. Trent is having his worst game as a Bill, but whats even worse is that he has been clearly shaken big time all game. Trent constantly fails to throw to open WR's all game just to check down to RB's behind or at the line of scrimmage. Trent has been off target by a lot of pretty much most of his throws all game past 5 yards and should have more INT's then the three he already threw if it werent for drops by the Cle secondary. 5. We are throwing into the wind with a QB shaken who already is off on his timing and isnt exactly known for his big arm strength. 6. We cant risk getting zero yards being where we had 1-10 it was a 47 yard FG, and given how Trent had been playing so poorly and our running game had been so good up to that point (174 yards on 32 carries, 5.4 yrds per carry) running 3 times to get 5 to 8 yards was a better option. 9. Most importantly, Marshawn had 114 yards on only 20 carries before those last 3 runs for an avg of 5.7 yards per carry. So maybe you should consider all the facts before you bash DJ for making a call a LOT of coaches would have made in that same situation with a young struggling QB, in a windy and tough enviroment, and succesful running game a very reliable kicker to win the game. FACT REMAINS: WIND DIDNT MATTER, OUR KICKER SHANKED IT Additional facts: Trent played beyond lousy, Leodis dropped an INT to end the game, we had FOUR turnovers, and Ko dropped another critical INT... RECAP: THE PLAYERS ON THE FIELD LOST THE GAME....DJ put us in position to WIN the game DESPITE FOUR turnovers, an embarrasing QB performance, and several dropped and missed opportunities by some of our young guys. Our Pro Bowl level kicker just shanked a 43 yard FG that had PLENTY of distance...end of story. Hate DJ all you want, but when I see people use that decision as the reason why it just makes me wonder if they even watched the game or understand the game, because from a situational analysis it was the right call.

So...when will Dick pull a Jauron?? 1st game?? 2nd game?? 3rd game?? Here's my scenario... The Bills use their timeouts wisely as Trent Edwards surgically carves up the field using his uber-talented corps of receivers. They score the go-ahead TD, then recover the ensuing onside kick and score again before heading into the locker room with a huge lead at halftime. By the end of the 2009-10 season, that will be known as "pulling a Dick Jauron"... 19 and 0 baby!!! GO BILLSSS!!!! PosLUSZny!!!!!
VJ91 Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 mmmm......the Bills were awful at run blocking last tear. Then they would run it into the line for 3 straight plays??.The coach-I assume realized how weak we were.I don't blame the O line for the coach playing it safe to that absurd level. The Bills were not awful at run blocking all year last year. And they were not awful at pass blocking all year last year. And the coaches were not awful at calling plays all year last year. The team finished 7-9-0 for the third consecutive season because they all sucked at their jobs more often then they performed at times last year. We can pick out situations and videos from the 7-9-0 season till the cows come home. The bottom line is, "cash to the cap" kept Brandon and Wilson from improving the offense the best and quickest way they could have, by signing one or two more premium free agents. So instead they drafted tough OL's in the draft. They did sign T.O. to a shocking one year deal. They did sign a tough center away from the Panthers. They did sign Domick Rhodes. They did re-sign Freddy Jackson to a good deal. They did draft a pass-catching tight end. So now we will all sit back and watch those situations when they need to drive the field at the end of the half or end of the games, and score. Will Turkey call better more logical plays? Will the line block better? Will Edwards get the plays called and make the passes? Will DJ have a timeout left? Well they better, or another 7-9-0 season looms.

I agree about the pass blocking.I actually thought it was just fine for most of last year. The run blocking was ajoke for MOST of the year.Absolutely no push on the line from our crew of fatso millionaires. I love the O line shake up this year--and the fact that we have a few battlers in there now. Itll take some time for them to develope so we have to be patient.
