San Jose Bills Fan Posted July 1, 2009 Share Posted July 1, 2009 Cast my vote. Thanks Beerball. I worked with Van at Channel 4 and produced his 11 pm Sportscast. He and his wife Gloria are wonderful people and Van is one of the greatest NFL radio announcers ever. He was also excellent announcing Buffalo Braves games as well as college basketball. In fact when we used to take sports of the CBS feed and edit videotape Van would start announcing whatever was on the monitor in front of him, whether it was soccer, tennis, swimming or whatever. He was a natural announcer with a great knowledge of sports and he had that trademark voice, I nice blend of excitement and drama. Van could paint a picture with the best of them. But, unless a media outlet in the Greater Niagara Frontier picks up the mantle as Cinci has -to push for their guy, I don't like Van's chances here.
