Special K Posted June 28, 2009 Share Posted June 28, 2009 I play online on Pokerstars, and am a pretty consistent winner....I play somewhat small stakes, however (.50/$1 blind cash games). Haven't had a losing week in about 6 months, but what happened Friday night will end that streak. Six consecutive bad beats which cost me $290 in about an hour and a half.....always had the best hand when the money went in....not used to losing like that six times in a row I guess I'll need a week off to recover from that......just wanted to vent, but it made me wonder if anyone else has a bad beat story they would like to share Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I had a good hand, lured the guy to go all in, and crushed him -- victory is mine! Or so I thought.... Turns out that he still had 10 chips left. I had 9990. Blinds were 400/800, so no big deal - he has to go all-in every hand and I'll win. He wins the next hand. 9980-20. He wins the next hand. 9960-40. Hmm, some luck, no big deal. He wins the next hand, 9920-80. He wins the next hand, 9840-160 WTF is going on here, what are the odds of this? He wins the next hand, 9680-320 He wins the next hand, 9360-640 He wins the next hand, 8720-1280. Now I'm going ballistic and going all-in out of anger. He keeps winning. I go double or nothing on the Vikings at home against Miami. Warren Moon and Chris Carter were a potent combination back then. I believe I was laying 6 points. The Vikings come out lighting Miami up and manhandling them on defense. The score was 28-6 at the half. I'm celebrating and the second half is going to be even sweeter. Wrong. The Vikings come out playing a soft zone with their big lead and Marino ends up throwing 54 passes for 431 yards. The Vikings escaped with a 38-35 win, but minus the 6, I was ed! and down a cool grand to the man! , , and DOUBLE !!! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Button re raises to 30 blinds fold I call. Flop comes 2h-Kc-As I check. He beats 25. I call. Turn comes 7d, perfect brick no flush draw. I check. He bets $75 I re-raise to $175 he goes all in for another $100 I call. We both flip, he has pocket deuces. I have him crushed. What do you think the river is? 2 of Spades. Guy I know has a trny at his house bout once a month, usually about 50 folks there..$100 buy in, rebuys through first hr, add ons at the first hr break. Long story, but i ended up proverbial bubble boy. I pair of threes, he KD and QS. Flop comes with a 3 and two other non helpers for him, but two diamonds. Down to 3 of us and i had the chip lead, probably something like 50/30/20 split. I land a pocket queen/jack. Flop comes out, 2 more Jacks. i continue betting, 1 guy drops out, the other stays in. turn card was worthless, we keep betting, pot has gotten quite large. River card comes out, a Queen. I dump a ton in to force him to go all in. He calls: I show my hand, a J-J-J-Q-Q full house. He flops over pocket queens, getting a Q-Q-Q-J-J full house on the river. PTR I play on Sportsbook, which is publically traded on the London stock exchange. Plus, I play such low stakes that it wouldn't be worth anyone's time to cheat on. Placing 2nd in the game I lost in netted me $20 instead of $30 (as an example). I heard Absolute was one of the sites listed -- do you remember the 2nd site they talked about? We became fast friends because we were the only two guys at the school without a trust fund (my dad was the janitor at the school and his was the groundskeeper). To make a little money off the douchebag trust fund babies, we learn to grift at poker and we have them in the palms of our hands. Now, Worm ends up getting expelled for running an operation with me to throw a basketball game, but like a true friend Worm doesn't turn me in. I owe him a major debt of gratitude, obviously. Years later, I'm going to law school in New York and (being a poor mofo) paying for it with poker winnings. One day, I'm in Atlantic City and I take down former WSOP champion Johnny Chan. With this new-found confidence, I decide that I should raise the money to enter myself in the world series, so I take my entire bankroll of 30,000 dollars to Teddy KGB, a prominent member of the Russian mafia and a hell of a player at Texas Hold em. I do well enough that it's just me and KGB at the table toward the end. I'm dealt an Ace and a nine. The flop comes and I've got a two pair. After the river, I'm sitting on a full house A-A-9-9-9. KGB has a flush draw on spades, which I obviously have beat. We go all in. He doesn't have the spades. He pocket rockets, and a higher full house. KGB wins and I'm out my entire life savings. Being broke, I quit the game and got myself an honest job to pay for law school. Meanwhile, Worm is doing 2 years for credit card fraud. When he gets out, he draws me back into the game (I can't stay away). Turns out that Worm owes one of KGB's lackeys 25 grand. I can't just leave him for broke because he's like a brother to me. We have to raise at least $15,000 in 5 days. We get about half way there, when I'm in a 2 table game with some cops. I tell Worm to stay away, but he can't. The cops catch him dealing from the bottom of the deck, beat the crap out of us and throw us out. We're left with nothing. Worm wants to skip down, but I figure that I finally have to face my demons. I borrow 10 grand from one of my professors, and head on down to KGB's gambling den. I convince him to play and win the requisite 5 grand, but I can't just stop there at even (In retrospect, they would have killed me if I lost and couldn't pay, but I wasn't thinking straight). I lose a little bit, and only have a couple hours until midnight when I officially owe the money. I have one more hand... I'm dealth an 8 and 9 of spades. Right on the flop, boom I get the straight, but I play it cool checking to KGB on each bet. He thinks I've got nothing, but I beat him with the straight and win 60 G's, enough to pay back my debts and head off to Vegas for the World Series, unsure of my fate but hopeful.
