Tom you know that I have stated many times that unions have problems and can do wrong when they protect people who abuse the system or that are simply lazy. Quote KD in CT - I thought he was wearing his dark "all employees are treated like slaves if they don't have a union to protect them" glasses. Again, rose colored glasses. No employee is ever treated unfairly.
AlaskaDarin_Has_AIDS Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 CHECK IT Quote A common charge leveled against those who question the official orthodoxy of the global warming religion is that they are acting as stooges for the western establishment and big business interests. If this is the case, then why do the high priests of the elite and kingpin oil men continue to fan the flames of global warming hysteria? The Trilateral Commission, one of the three pillars of the New World Order in alliance with Bilderberg and the CFR, met last week in near secrecy to formulate policy on how best they could exploit global warming fearmongering to ratchet up taxes and control over how westerners live their lives. At the confab, European Chairman of the Trilateral Commission, Bilderberger and chairman of British Petroleum Peter Sutherland (pictured top), gave a speech to his elitist cohorts in which he issued a "Universal battle cry arose for the world to address “global warming” with a single voice." Echoing this sentiment was General Lord Guthrie, director of N.M. Rothschild & Sons, member of the House of Lords and former chief of the Defense Staff in London, who urged the Trilateral power-brokers to "Address the global climate crisis with a single voice, and impose rules that apply worldwide." Allegations that skeptics of the man-made explanation behind global warming are somehow doing the bidding of the elite are laughable in the face of the fact that Rothschild operatives and the very chairman of British Petroleum are the ones orchestrating an elitist plan to push global warming fears in order to achieve political objectives. We have a similar situation to the Peak Oil scam, which was created by the oil industry as a profit boon to promote artificial scarcity, and yet is parroted by environmentalists who grandstand as if they are in opposition to the oil companies. http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/march...balistslove.htm

Magox Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 U.S. Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice President Bruce Josten said that this Bill wouldn’t ensure development of enough renewable energy sources to make up for the required reduction in fossil-fuel emissions. “Instead, it would impose 397 new regulations and 1,060 new mandates on the American public,” Is that all?

And it's 1200 pages long. But not to worry, because as I once heard an influential politician state "Nobody reads the whole bill around here". People, we are getting what we asked for... This is currently the conservative right's screaming point of the moment, or cause celebre if you will. Will had an article about it a couple days ago and now Limbaugh is going off on it right now. I'm pretty sure if you turn on Fox News tonite there will be plenty said about it on O'Reilly and Hannity. Once they get tired of this I wonder what other fascinating topic they'll turn to next?

It seems to me that no matter what President Obamas stance is people on this board will ALWAYS find the negative side. And really that is with pretty much EVERY subject. I am waiting for people to cry about them using a Hawaiian theme for the party at the White House. You mean you have finally come to the realization that this board is fueled primarily by reactionaries? Socialism! Telepromptor! Messiah!

finknottle Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Interestingly enough, Greenpeace has come out in opposition to the bill. Their main objection is that this is a pivotal moment in history which calls for real leadership - and this bill doesn't provide it. http://www.greenpeace.org/usa/press-center...ses-waxman-mark
