SWIFFER

I actually brought that one up as a suggestion yesterday.

Right now I think we're leaning towards Buzzy - in honor of Buzzy's in Niagara Falls (that, and he "buzzes" around the house looking at everything). But still not completely sold on it yet.

I like Einstein - but the wife doesn't seem sold on that one.

I'll bring up some of these suggestions tonight and see what happens. :)

Well?

Still undecided.

I think the finalists right now are:

Thor (humorous comparison)

Loki (he looks a little mischevious)

Diogi (pronounced Dee Oh Gee -- D O G. Doesn't roll off the tongue well though...)

Buzzy (after the best pizza/wing place in Niagara Falls).

I think we have to make up our mind before tomorrow, as that's his first vet visit...

:worthy: Good choices. I really like Diogi

Well we finally named him before our vet visit! We decided to go with Buzzy!

We really wanted to use Diogi, but it just doesn't flow off the tongue. Plus, he never responded a single time to that name.

He seemed to like Loki and Buzzy equally well, so we decided to go with Buzzy.

Just got back from the vet and he has a clean bill of health (after he loses 2 pounds to get down to 20).

Glad to hear it all went well.

Buzzy is a good name, especially considering the background. Obviously, he's a LaSalle dog, or he would be named "La Hacienda".

I always though Fido would be a good name for a cat.

Cats do not answer to names. A tisking noise suffices. I give the name Kitty to the vets, but it allows for you to rename the cat a lot. For examples, when our last cat was very young, she could jump way more than most cats. This equaled out though, as she had about my sense of balance. So she would jump from the desk to the top of the door and promptly fall off. Jump to the top of the refrigerator, get alarmed by the bread basket that was in the same location every time and fall off sliding down the side of the refrigerator, claws flailing in every direction. Her name during that period was "Grace".

Later, she calmed down in the jumping, but it seems we made a mistake by talking to the cat. We would be drunk and make "cat noises" at her and she would reply. It seemed cute at the time, however she became more and more vocal after this. If she wanted food (even if there was food in the bowl) she would meow at you constantly. I remember telling a cocktail at the casino I worked at, "Yeah, we named the cat after you." She replied, "awwww how sweet." I said, "Yeah, Melanie seemed appropriate as she is really cute, but bitches all the time."

Her current name is Fido as she is fat and tolerates you petting her like a dog.

I have no advice on a name, however, I do have one important advice. Everyone and their mother will claim to be Caesar Milan and will all have some "guaranteed" advice. Take it all with a grain of salt, put it all together and pull what works for you and your dog. No two dogs are alike, just like no two humans or pieced of advice.

With that said, I do have one good name suggestion: Ahmadinejad

Our two cats both respond to their name. We've tested it - make a similar noise, nothing. Call them by name and they come.

Of course htey haven't left the 2nd floor much since we got the dog... Hopefully they acclimate to each other. One of our cats even acts like a dog -- plays fetch, follows me around from when I wake up to when I go to sleep (now only the 2nd floor though, like I said). We'll have to see how that works out I guess...
