IDBillzFan
I love how you state that I do not know the difference. Do you know me? Have we met before? If I wanted to live in Canada and have their healthcare system I would. I want reform. I love when people on this board always talk down to other people. Do you work within the healthcare industry? If not, you should because you know ALL!! Gee, I had no idea you never talked down to anyone here before. My bad. I'll be sure to hold myself in check by following your example. In the meantime, you seem to think that all the president is pushing is health care reform, and to a small degree you would be right. But there's more than one way to reform health care, and his agenda is a particularly costly, dangerous and ill-advised route as it will cost everyone money and only cover a small portion of those who need it. Again, if you take the illegals off the roles of those "Americans" who don't have health insurance, your problem gets much smaller. But we can't have that, because...y'know...we need the votes for 2012. So let's give them amnesty, then some health care, maybe some welfare, and THEN let's get that 2012 campaign going. Hell, he gave the unions a chunk of GM just for supporting him. Can you imagine the gifts he'll be handing out to the illegals? It'll be like a never-ending flow of lead-filled candy pouring from the America-shaped piñata.

I want reform but I do not want it to be completely run by the government, and cost a ton. I think the issue with the illegals, like you said, is the biggest part of this and well other issues. Seems like no one has an idea on how to deal with illegal immigration or they are all scared to do so. Something does need to happen though. Taro T
Shumer is advancing a national work papers system:http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...ml?hpid=topnews Makes perfect sense. We don't enforce the existing laws. Let's create new laws that are burdonsome to the law abiding populace, will be ignored by the unscrupulous, and also will most likely be not enforced. Yes, but if they force even more endless regulation and paperwork on legitimate small businesses, they'll be 'creating jobs'.
Kelly the Dog
More grist. At a committee hearing yesterday, three health-care specialists testified that insurers go to great lengths to avoid responsibility for sick people, use deliberately incomprehensible documents to mislead consumers about their benefits, and sell "junk" policies that do not cover needed care. Rockefeller said he was exploring "why consumers get such a raw deal from their insurance companies." The star witness at the hearing was a former public relations executive for major health insurers whose testimony boiled down to this: Don't trust the insurers. "The industry and its backers are using fear tactics, as they did in 1994, to tar a transparent and accountable -- publicly accountable -- health-care option," said Wendell Potter, who until early last year was vice president for corporate communications at the big insurer Cigna. Potter said he worries "that the industry's charm offensive, which is the most visible part of duplicitous and well-financed PR and lobbying campaigns, may well shape reform in a way that benefits Wall Street far more than average Americans." Insurers make paperwork confusing because "they realize that people will just simply give up and not pursue it" if they think they have been shortchanged, Potter said. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...ml?hpid=topnews

Taro T
Yes, but if they force even more endless regulation and paperwork on legitimate small businesses, they'll be 'creating jobs'. Which is probably where he wants it to look like he's going with it. Not only that, he's being proactive and doing SOMETHING. Unfortunately, all I see this proposal does is allow the government to have a national biometric database of the citizens and again ignore illegal imigration.
