Where in the world is Mark Sanford?

Recommended Posts

I think taking off for a week without leaving notice is whats going to get him canned, not the affair. Is an affair illegal or a breach of his duties? Is it really an impeachable offense? I dont think so. But dissapearing for a week without notice DEFINTIELY is and thats the noose from which he will hang. The reason WHY he took off will just be the icing on the cake.

I didn't mean "the affair". What I meant is that he used taxpayer dollars to go down there on what was basically a pleasure trip, with or without a woman.

Doesn't matter. Soon he'll have plenty of time to hike the Appalaichian trail...or is Argentinian tail?

So in other words, exactly like 98% of all trips taken to foreign countries by state or local officials. Except this time "business development" was more like "gettin' down to business development".

Not for nothing....liberals always love to high five the "hypocrisy" of the Repulicans when one of them steps out.

But I notice no other Republicans or Conservatives are defending him and many are calling for him to step down from his Governorship. Meanwhile, what do we get from the libs when one of theirs steps out? Excuses. Minimalizations.

Who is the hypocrite?

Obviously the Republicans. Democrats don't go out of their way to tell people who they can or can't marry or what they should do in their marriage. It's up to the couple to decide what they will and won't put up with.

I don't care if a cheating politician stays or resigns, as long as they can still do their job. But they should be called out for hypocracy if they say someone else should resign and then don't do it themselves for a similar offense, as is the case with Ensign and Sanford who called for Clinton to resign.

No, they go out of their way to tell people how important human rights are and how we shouldn't drop water on terrorists responsible for killing 3,000 innocent Americans. And they usually do this right before they go out of their way to tell people that a doctor who aborts 23-month-old fetuses is a hero.

But we get your point. Everyone's a hypocrite.

Exactly. Regardless of what people think about the morality of WHY he disappeared, the issue is that he disappeared. Whether he cheats on his wife doesn't really have much bearing on how he handles his job, but disappearing shows that he willing to flake out/check out and go take care of personal matters without regard to the state's need to have a functioning executive and not even let his staff know what's going on and how to reach him if necessary - that's what people should be upset about.

Exactly. Think of what kind of mental illness you suffer from when you, as governor, just disappear for a week to visit your mistress...to Argentina, ie, 100% trackable...with no alibi.

It would not have been hard to just say he was taking a week off and go visit her. He chose this self-destructive path that had no other possible outcome but him losing his job.

And not be redundant, but there are plenty of hypocrites on both sides... So other than laugh at the way he handled it and gloating because he cast stones and is being taken down by his own, I think Sanford is both not uncommon and in his arrogance pretty typical.

The reason why I will never run for office except for the NY State Senate, where you can get away with just about anything.

I personally don't think an affair is anything relevent when it comes to a poltical office unless it leads to corruption such appointments, promotions etc.

Based off of this statement, you had no problem with Monica playing Billy's skin flute, but rather his claims that he did not have relations with her...

Correct

Clinton was impeached for lying under oath, no? That's a long way from having an affair.

Did he? He denied that yesterday and the only place I've seen that accusation is here.

I don't think he used the taxpayer's money either, as of now.

There were, however, several trips to Argentina that no one knows either way right now (except maybe him) whether he used the taxpayer dime to see her or not. Two of them were official trips we know he made, and the taxpayer paid for, but we don't know if he went and saw her during those two trips. At least two other trips he made to Argentina to see her, but there isn't evidence either way that has surfaced to say whether he used his own dime or not.

Right now I don't think anyone anywhere should assume he did use taxpayer dollars unless there is some evidence.

If he used money out of his own bank account there's a good chance he used taxpayer money, if you know what I mean.

Who pays his salary Charlie Brown?

So all money used by all government employees is somewhat tainted or shouldn't be used for pleasure? What's your point? As soon as he gets paid a check for his salary as Governor, it's no longer taxpayer money, it's his money.

Until, of course, Obama takes it back.

Do you consider money in your pocket your company's money or yours?
