He graduated from Miami with a double major in finance and economics with two years of eligibility left. He was infamous for negotiating his own contracts. This is a guy who was considered a very heady, intelligent person. But according to the story, it looks like his life has fallen apart a bit.

Now it's TO's fault that Bernie can't manage his finances? When will the insanity end?

He owes a bank more than $9 million for bad real estate deals.

The 45-year-old Kosar got divorced in 2007 and last year saw his steakhouse go out of business.

Those three'll do it.

just because you are booksmart does not mean you are real world business smart. They are two totally separate things.

No, actually, smart move. In the world today, in the U.S., Hollywood and Government dictates that no one is required to be responsible nor accountable any more. Enter Chapter 11. Oh, I f'kd up on purpose, come wash me of my sins Catholic Church and Uncle Sam.

Its still given out like candy (Bankruptcy protection). Why not work some shady deals and pocket the CASH, knowing that you can get away with it (leaving the creditors hanging). Brilliant, and all the reason for upholding Coups, revolution against Big Government, and vigilantism. Someone should whack this fa g g ot.

Thanks for stopping at Booger King, this is Bernie, may I take your order (prepared by Mike Vick)?

Somebody rake this scum pup over the coals. Move to NY Kosar, in fact, move to Cortland and limp like half the welfare'd population... get a job as the jets towel boy.

Believe me, I know the difference. And it wouldn't surprise me if he died with a boatload of money either.

I always liked Kosar. I remember about 6 months ago, I saw him on one of those College "flashback" shows on Fox SW, where they replay the game, and the cut to well known players, modern day, who played in the classic for their commentary. I was struck by Kosar. Something seemed wrong with him. I was going to post something at the time, but didn't, because I didn't know how to frame it, seriously. But, he was kind of twitching a lot, and didn't seem as "well spoken" as I remembered him, in his days from the Browns. Almost like his cognitive skills had slipped some. I know he had some concussions over the years...I wonder if that contributed any to his misfortunes...

Good luck Bernie!

Great article in SI a few months ago about the huge % of athletes who have to declare bankruptcy.

And, somebody nailed it above - the killers are stupid investments like restaurants and bad real estate and especially divorce.

I like how you turned marriage into an investment. That was great. Made me think of a Bill Burr routine...
