The Dean
Those are very good questions....I am not sure either...I dunno if he could play with a swing band or read music? What drummers do feel can do all that plus play rock? I freely admit rock is more my cup of tea... Jeff Porcaro, Vinnie Colaiuta, Aynsley Dunbar, Terry Bozzio, to name a few. I don't think any of them are/were the monster of rock that Bonham and Moon were, but I know they are/were very versatile: Dig Bozzio's drum kit (for a special project, I'm sure): http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...ry_Bozzio_1.jpg
BringMetheHeadofLeonLett
Keith Moon. His fills were all over the place but totally sublime(when your ear could keep up). No doubt he lacked structure, but he always made it back in time to keep that band driving hard. For me it's about as close between Moon and the rest as it is between the Bills and the rest of the NFL.

Reed83HOF
Part of me wanted to toss in Nick Mason based off of Floyd's expiramentation days, but I would have to go back and listen to Umma Gumma and other olders albums first....

The Dean
Billy Cobham Great drummer. Saw him in person a couple of times. Alphonse Mouzon was pretty damn good, too. One very good drummer I don't think has been mentioned is Buddy Miles. Buddy was a fine drummer (not all time best, of course) and had a good voice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wit370cfqsk His mitts were a bit big for the guitar, but that didn't stop him from wailing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHe255mkI2E
