Tcali
Anyone care to explain why Flutie "just lost" in SD? yeah he was 41 yrs old..at some point....
DC Tom
That's a rhetorical question, correct? After all, this IS the Stadium Wall. Remember the good old days, when the DF/RJ debate had its own separate sub-board? Yeah, that was cool. Or not ... "DF is a better QB than RJ...look how he holds his little finger on his throwing hand a quarter-inch more forward on the ball..." Yeah, I really miss those days...nitpicking every single little meaningless thing about two quarterbacks who both basically sucked. Good thing we as a group have grown beyond that... But...my God...come on...ELEVEN PAGES!!! And it was ten years ago! Why not discuss Bruce Mathison/Vince Ferragamo while we're at it?

reddogblitz
Do you mean winning two games during the regular season for TB, in their SB season, were pathetic hiccups? Who owns a SB ring? RJ or Flutie? Rob Johnson in fact did break the sub 40 degree jinx of the Buccaneers by engineering an impressive 12-9 (4 FGs) win on Monday Night Football (or maybe it was Sunday Night). As far as benching Flutie for RJ in the Titans game, it was (soon to be HOF) Ralph Wilson's call. Look it up. Dumbest decision in Buffalo Bills history. What Flutie lacked in size etc. he made up for in heart and a will to win. He made plays out of nothing. Again watch at 1:30 in the vid. Most QBs, including TE, won't make that play. He was just manning the helm of a really good team, then why couldn't RJ or Alex Van Pelt have had the same success with that team? I was at the 2000 Patsies game. Blizzard and wind and miserable conditions. Rj is doing nothing under center. Finally he gets hurt and Flutie comes in and immediately starts throwing and moving the chains and scoring points. The lady in front of me turns around and says "they play differently whe he's in there." Why's that, becuase he was such a cancer in the locker room, or sucked, or what? The man exuded confidence. You can't coach that. The Patsies had to actually start trying to score too and it turned into sort of a shoot-out in a blizzard. Went into OT and Veneteri kicked the game winner. But a great fun game. Meanwhile we got a guy in there now who when DJ doesn't get the play in in time, runs over to the sidelines to find out what play to run (last drive of 1st half vs. Patsies at the Ralph, the Wind Bowl). The clock was running out on the half and he can't even decide on his own what to do. Man, the Bills could certainly use a guy that sucked as bad Doug Flute now! 22 - 11 as a starter! I see people around here braggin' about Trent's 11 - 10 or whatever it is as a starter.

Mr. WEO
Yeah..it says he had the help of a #1 defense and a pack of Hall of Fame players Yeah, Flutie really got by because he had Thurman Thomas and Andre Reed in front of him. Flutie outgained Thomas over the two years. In 98, the D was ranked 6 in yards allowed and 15th in points allowed. Big deal.
Randolph Duke
Doug Flutie is a god among men. He is to be worshiped and feared. If I ever meet Rob Johnson, I will kick him where his man-parts should be. He reminded me of Dan Cortese minus all the talent.
erynthered
a little known truth........... Flutie had a thing for Hillary's Kankles. Licked them I heard.

When you are that great, licking them (liking them?) is not deviant. It's eccentric. Someday, Doug will come back to judge the living and the dead. Would you stop it already? maybe if people would stop sucking off the little midget..or if they just realized that football is a team game and it's ignorant as well as insulting to a QB's teammates when you give him credit for wins and losses

The Bills are the same TEAM whether Jim Kelly or Todd Collins or Alex Van Pelt is the qb. We should not be assigning praise or blame. Calling out individual players is dumb. Everyone gets pizza and ice cream after the game. Everyone gets a trophy. I give you a trophy, Phil.
billsfan89
They were #1 in 1999...the year the diminutive one SUCKED like a cheap whore What ever happened to that team? I was kinda young when they last made the playoffs and didn't follow the team that closely. How did we go from #1 defense to the TD era. Just curious to see what went wrong. How did that defense fall apart so quickly?

We still could've made the playoffs the but a rash of injuries and a head coach that quit on the team stopped us. Add in the fact that Butler totally !@#$ed up the salary cap before he bolted for the Bolts, a flop was inevitable
