BeastMode54 Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 I live in NYC and heard that the NY Giants will have, I believe, Timex logos on their practice jerseys. It will be similar to soccer and a Nascar car in that there is room to add more. I don't like the idea of advertisements on jerseys, but could this help the Bills in a smaller market by getting companies to advertise on their jerseys if, and only if, it happens for preseason and/or regular season games? Just throwing it out there

Just throwing it out there It was only a matter of time before uniforms became a source of advertising and revenue. First it was the Nike swoosh in college. Now we're going to see Timex logos?
San Jose Bills Fan Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 I believe you must have seen something about the sponsorship of practice jerseys, which the NFL is now allowing. We haven't seen sponsorship of the gameday jerseys but it seems like it's headed in that direction. No I don't think it will help the Bills unless they help themselves first and become a marquee franchise. As presently comprised, I believe the Bills would get lower revenues than most of their competitors because they are a smaller market, mediocre team which as a result gets lower television ratings thus, lower sponsorship revenue.
Dr. Trooth Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Yes. The Bills will don practice unis with the Celino & Barnes Logo on Mondays, Wegmans on Tueday, Tops on Wednesdays. Contracts are in the works for Levitra on Thursdays, and Cialis on Fridays.
Coach55 Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 I highly doubt that Reebok, who makes the official Jerseys, would allow any other advertising on their product. In other words, the Jerseys have advertising on them already - Reebok's and they pay a lot for that right.

Anytime players suit up in their Sunday uni's they will most likely be sponsoring their teams logo, and reeboks logo. Practice jerseys dont mean anything really. IMO its just some corporation wasting money. How many people really see the players in their practice jerseys?

Lurker Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Wow dude, you're clueless... I agree with the original poster. Not gonna happen with the Sunday duds...

Are Celino and Barnes and the scum like them really the only ones who can afford to advertise in WNY anymore?
Ramius Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 It was only a matter of time before uniforms became a source of advertising and revenue. First it was the Nike swoosh in college. Now we're going to see Timex logos? The Nike Swoosh is on college jerseys because Nike makes the jerseys. Similar to how Reebok makes the NFL jerseys, but i dont hear you complaining about the Reebok logo.
VOR Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Why wouldn't Reebok allow any other logos on their uniforms? I'm sure the potential advertisers would compensate them, as well as the NFL and/or Reebok wouldn't have to pay the NFL as much as before. I'm sure the European leagues use apparel companies who also want just their logos displayed, but have agreed to put others' on there.

Contracts are in the works for Levitra on Thursdays, and Cialis on Fridays. For this team, Mondays have got to be sponsored by Zoloft or any other antidepressant.
RJ (not THAT RJ) Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 For this team, Mondays have got to be sponsored by Zoloft or any other antidepressant. Or the Ajax Noose Corporation. Though it is true that every professional team in Europe has a sponsor on its jersey.
wonderbread Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 For this team, Mondays have got to be sponsored by Zoloft or any other antidepressant. I was thinking Jack Daniels but Xanax may work!
shrader Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 Anything on the jerseys would be way too small and not seen enough. We're far more likely to see all kinds of new ads added into tv broadcasts. The absolutely ridiculous yellow first down line being sponsored by certain companies is just the tip of the iceberg.
