No effort, really, well maybe that's why I like to rely on my own opinion over someone else because we all see things a little differently I suppose. It takes a certain mentality and toughness to go down a block shots with your body, some players have it and some don't and Miro was never that type of player, and to be honest, normally your top scoring goal scorer is not noted for blocking shots with his body.

 

Satan played on the power play for the Sabres and he was also used on the penalty kill, his intelligence, knowledge of the game and use of the proper angles and positioning on the ice help make up for his lack of speed.

 

He is what he is, good at blocking shots, no, of course not, but good at scoring goals, yes he was and for anyone who seems to think the Miroslov Satan didn't put forth an effort when he played for the Sabres, I respectfully disagree.

Probably a little easier to skate when nobody's trying to kill you.

Near the end of the regular season the Pens were in a game that was getting pretty ugly. Somebody got run (might have been Scuderi) and Crosby saw it and got pissed. So he calls the equipment guy up the tunnel and has him unscrew his faceshield so he can start a fight w/o getting an extra minor. He proceeds to go out on the ice and try to fight 3 different guys and nobody would go with him.

Now I'm not saying he's some kind of super bad muther but he plays his ass off, is fearless in the corners and grizzled teammates like Billy Guerin have a ton of respect for him.

Anybody that would call that kid a pu$$y either doesn't watch him play enough to know any better or is just a self-aggrandizing little snotsucker. In your case it's likely both.

Yeah, I guess that would be hard to come by in the 3rd period of game 7 in the cup finals.

Perhaps it's a little easier to skate in a straight line with the Cup than avoid really talented players who're trying to take your head off. Sidney Crosby has had a target on his back his entire life. He's one of the toughest hockey players in the world and anyone who says different simply doesn't know the game.

 

It's absolutely asinine to think ANYONE who has played to Game 7 of a Cup Final would pull the chute with less than a period to play if they weren't seriously injured. I won't be at all surprised if they announce that he needs some kind of surgery or extended rehab to fix whatever happened to him.

 

I've watched guys literally get duct taped from the top of their knee to the bottom of their chest to play in the post season. One of the guys used to have a square needle inserted into his knee to drain fluid so he could get out there, another refused shots when his teeth got broken because if they gave them to him he wouldn't be able to go back out for the third period. It'll be a long time before I question anyone's heart in a hockey playoff game. You should be ashamed.

Let me chime in here. First of all, awesome series. The Pens were the better team, they wanted it more, and the right team won in the end.

 

Now, to enter the Crosby debate... I had a very hard time liking the kid before this series. He always seemed a little unpolished in the "life" department, seemed to whine, and be generally immature. Great hockey player though... Best in the game, as a matter of fact. Well, after watching this series, I believe that he grew up. He barely showed up on the stats sheet but he played his ass off. After that injury, I thought he was done done done. Came back and played a shift... Whether he did that to test his injury or to simply play possum, i don't think we'll ever know, but nobody will ever question his leadership and maturity again. After getting your knee rocked, you leave the game, and then return to sit in agony on the bench only to hoist the stanley cup? That's not being selfish, that's not being whiney, that's legend right there. I'd give my third nut to have won that draft lottery back in 05 instead of pittsburgh.

What a great night! I could barely eat anything all day; and watching that game was so nerve-wracking. But it was sweet to celebrate amongst Pens fans here. One dude at the bar I was at had a replica Stanley Cup, and everyone was hoisting it up in the air, taking pictures, drinking beer out of it!

 

As for the game, Fleury came to play; he's a big-game goalie and made just a series of huge saves down the stretch. i thought the Pens needed great goal-tending and some lucky breaks to win, which they got (e.g., Wings shot that hit the cross bar in the third).

 

Hossa who? Nice job, Marion-- give up $35 million to come in second place again.

 

While Crosby and Malkin didn't have a spectacular Final, the wings got burned by the attention they had to pay to those guys-- e.g., where was Zetterberg last night?

 

Oh, and I couldn't help but thinking when the Pens were up 2-1 in the third, "If this were the Bills, they'd find a way to lose this in the last seconds..."

Jeez...the point is, he is a kid...and a great hockey player..I would kill to have an immature guy like Crosby, on any of my favorite teams. If I can watch him win a championship or two, while he is "growing up", that is great!
