stuckincincy Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 "The Food and Drug Administration warned consumers Monday not to use skin products made by Clarcon because of high levels of disease-causing bacteria found during a recent inspection. Clarcon Biological Chemistry Laboratory Inc. of Roy, Utah, issued a voluntary recall of some skin sanitizers and skin protectants marketed under several different brand names, the FDA said in a statement. Consumers should not use any Clarcon products and should throw them away, the FDA said. Analyses of several samples of over-the-counter topical antimicrobial skin sanitizer and skin protectant products revealed high levels of various bacteria, including some associated with unsanitary conditions, according to the agency. Some of these bacteria can cause opportunistic infections of the skin and underlying tissues and could result in medical or surgical attention as well as permanent damage."... http://www.wcpo.com/news/local/story/FDA-W...49FW2QpMFg.cspx

stuckincincy Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 Define "useless": an antimicrobial sanitizer that contains high levels of bacteria. Evidently GMP violations. I worked the the pharma biz - the manufacturing - decades ago. The GMP regs are strict, but very well-established, clear, and easy to follow. My opinion is that if they are violated, it's an intentional act.
Fan in Chicago Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 http://www.wcpo.com/news/local/story/FDA-W...49FW2QpMFg.cspx Besides the fact that they were manufactured under poor conditions, it really didn't have any anti-bacterial properties in the first place, right ? Like a spermicide that contains semen ? So they should also be accused of false advertising or incorrect claims about their products. P.S. stuckincincy, you should fix the spellings in your post heading
Beerball Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Like a spermicide that contains semen ? There's a joke swimming around in there somewhere, but I'm not willing to find it.
inkman Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Hand sanitizers aren't the cure all that some people like to think anyway. Someone wipes their arse, gets a little feces on their hand and then spreads it around with hand sanitizer. But hey, there won't be any bacteria...
