Beerball Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 We’ve been working with the [Minnesota] Vikings for about nine months, and they are still trying to get their funding. The [san Francisco] 49ers and the Buffalo Bills are thinking about doing something and also the [san Diego] Chargers and maybe the Atlanta Falcons. Those are the potential new stadiums in the NFL. Link
richNjoisy Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Link Huh indeed. I have no idea what this might mean. None.
BLZFAN4LIFE Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Huh indeed. I have no idea what this might mean. None. It might mean that the Bills are looking to build a new stadium, since they only have 4 seasons remaining on the existing contract with Erie county. Now, hopefully, the stadium is to be built in Buffalo/WNY.
Guest dog14787 Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Huh indeed. I have no idea what this might mean. None. It probably means some rough drafts may have already been drawn up and discussed already and I would assume someone involved within the Bills organization would of had to initiate the process.
rpcolosi Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 It probably means some rough drafts may have already been drawn up and discussed already and I would assume someone involved within the Bills organization would of had to initiate the process. it probably means we are upgrading the ralph again....OR it means toronto is kicking the tires on building a new stadium which would be necessary before buying the bills. again, buffalo will NOT build a new stadium for the bills. no one has the $$$ for it, including all 3 levels of government in this region. no one wants to hear it, but thats more logical than WNY getting a waterfront dome.
Endless Ike Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 "Doing something" could mean anything, not necessarily an entire new stadium Could mean refurb, add/removing more seats, putting in a new scoreboard or press box, updating the lights, putting in new turf, etc

BLZFAN4LIFE Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Link to new stadium site http://www.bing.com/maps/default.aspx?q=&a...TI2LjM4NjcxODc1 NOT!

Endless Ike Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 cept that part where they say "Those are the potential new (not refurbished, not updated) stadiums in the NFL." I'm sure this guy was not intending his remarks to be gospel
Captain Caveman Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 It probably means some rough drafts may have already been drawn up and discussed already and I would assume someone involved within the Bills organization would of had to initiate the process. I wouldn't give this much thought. I doubt there's been much more contact than maybe a sales pitch by HKS. Especially since Minnesota was his first response, and as he mentioned they don't even have funding. It sounds to me like they don't really have anything on the horizon, but generally companies don't like to admit to that kind of thing. Just my 2 cents.
Mr. WEO Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 "the Buffalo Bills are thinking about doing something" That's it? Sounds like nothing. There is no plan for a new stadium. Who would build it?
The Senator Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Link to new stadium site http://www.bing.com/maps/default.aspx?q=&a...TI2LjM4NjcxODc1 Actually, this is the proposed site... link (click on the photo to enlarge the view) It's an idea tossed around for a few years by then Councilman (now NYS Senator) Antoine Thompson, which his successor (Brian Davis ) has advocated building on site of the Perry Street projects, near the new Seneca Casino... Davis' resolution New downtown stadium And, BTW, there is some grassroots support for a new stadium... Buffalo Rising Buffalo Stadium I love Rich/Ralph Wilson Stadium, but it is approaching its 40th birthday. It was designed by the same group that did the old Cheatriettes* stadium in Fagsboro, but that dump was left half-finished whereas RWS has been constantly upgraded. My biggest complaint is the narrowness of the corridors - especially since they let the 'pushcart' vendors in to sell beer and hawk credit cards in the hallways. It'd be great to have a downtown facility - just not sure the city can accommodate the traffic, and it'd take a huge chunk of prime downtown land for parking, practice facilities, and the stadium itself.

Good job Senator, thanks for all the info
