Pete Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 Drew wasted that last TO. WTF? He is the dumbest QB in the NFL! Spike the ball there- but dont burn your last TO. AAUUUURRRGGGHHHHH!!!!
Buffan00 Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 They had 30 seconds to try a pass, an incompletion stops the clock, worst case scenario, Drew throws it away, but atleast we could have tried! Even the announcers were dumbfounded!
Coach Tuesday Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 Was that Gregg Williams' Red Zone offense?
Fezmid Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 Unfriggin believable. What horrible clock management. Drew/Mularkey WTF!!!! 105817 That wasn't Drew. He was looking to the sideline for a call and got nothing. Looked upset at the end of the half as well. MM's comments were perplexing as well -- "We weren't expecting the run play to not work." Wow, so if the 2nd down play doesn't work, you had no contingency? I still say that you throw a fade in the EZ on the last play -- you either get an incomplete or a TD (or very slight chance of an INT). You have to at least run a play though.... CW
BillsGuyInMalta Posted November 7, 2004 Author Posted November 7, 2004 Seriously guys, how easily you all forget the other games. Imagine getting NOTHING out of that drive if the Bills got stuffed on 3rd down. We got points, and especially since we usually lose by 2-3 points, it was a smart move.
CosmicBills Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 throw it away...same as spiking the ball...at worst, you get called for intentional grounding...shouldn't make lindell's life too much more difficult 105825 Worst case scenario is a sack and no timeouts left to stop the clock sending teh Bills to the locker room down 7-10 rather than tied 10-10.

We got points, and especially since we usually lose by 2-3 points, it was a smart move. 105831 You're missing the point. They should have had two plays called in the huddle, the second one a pass play if the run play on 2nd down didn't work. On 3rd down no playcall is needed, get to the line, run the pass play and if its incomplete you kick the FG. Not even trying is ridiculous...I mean, if we're so afraid of mistakes we should just punt the ball on 1st down every series.

We haven't allowed a sack in 6 quarters...no reason to think we'd suddenly get one there.
Frez Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 I thought Bledsoe was looking at the game clock on that one. Rookie head coach or bad move on the QB?

I agree that there should have been another play called, but lets not forget we still managed to tie. People act like we got nothing out of that drive. And to top it all off, we get ball back at the half.
JStranger76 Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 Do the Bills get the wind in the 3rd or 4th?
BillsGuyInMalta Posted November 7, 2004 Author Posted November 7, 2004 I thought Bledsoe was looking at the game clock on that one. Rookie head coach or bad move on the QB? 105840 That was not on Drew (and this is coming from one of Drew's biggest haters). Mularkey should have had two plays called, it was a rookie HC mistake. It happens.

The guy is not gonna be attending any Mensa meetings in the near future..and his football IQ is even lower.
Fezmid Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 Do the Bills get the wind in the 3rd or 4th? 105843 They'll probably get the wind in the 3rd; the Jets won the toss and elected to kick. Therefore in the 2nd half, we get to decide if we kick or defend. We'll probably take the kick option (and receive). CW

On top of that our veteran quarterback should've recognized the situation/seen the play clock and got the play off and spiked the ball instead of burning the last timeout. Not pretty.

Guess that means we'll see plenty of McGahee in the 4th then.
CosmicBills Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 Why assume a sack? We haven't allowed a sack in 6 quarters...no reason to think we'd suddenly get one there. 105839 When you are down, with no timeouts left and are in position to at least tie the game, you have to play for the tie first, the lead second. That means planning for the worst (a sack or an INT) and hoping for the best. They called a pass play on first down, then a run. They were in their goal line set for the run which means they didn't have the personel on the field to spread it out and pass it on 3rd down...their pass options would have been limited. Thus, the safe play was to spike it and take the tie. The only thing to complain about on that drive was the TO Drew used. Apparently the refs didn't reset the playclock (at least according to AVP on the radio). Regardless that TO cost the Bills the ability to run a 3rd down play. The spike was the right call given the situation.
Pete Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 Sorry that one was on Drew. If he didnt waste that last TO we would of had many more options. Why the fug did he waste that last TO? SPIKE THE BALL! Joe Burns fugged up big time too. We are the dumbest team in the NFL on offense
