buckeyemike Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 You know what I was thinking when I heard that story? I hate to say it, but Final Destination. Freaky.
Jim in Anchorage Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Sure makes the old is flying/driving safer then driving/flying debate more difficult.

BUFFALOTONE Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 yea thats a bit creepy... I think its more the lack of control than a fear of flying. That's just my thought.
Marv's Neighbor Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Thats a weird scenario that ANOTHER Airbus broke apart due to G-Force loading, especially if due to some kind of pilot error. I was thinking about the Airbus airframes when the Air France tail "popped up." Nov. 2001 American lost an Airbus that was departing JFK. That Airbus crossed the wake of another departing "heavy jet" and the tail came off because they said the co-pilot (pilot flying) was too agressive with the rudder pedals. The USAir A320 that landed in the Hudson stayed together but that happened just above stall speed so not a real comparison. I know that now we'll see all the posts about "French tail" but absent a more complete investigation, it makes one wonder.
Arkady Renko Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 The Sully miracle landing on the Hudson I hear you though, some folks are terrified of flying, yet you can drive to the corner store a couple of blocks away and end up getting killed because some drunk had one to many to drink, go figure. Air Travel is by far the safest mode of transportation. Actually I believe that train travel is the statistically safest method of travel.
ExiledInIllinois Posted June 14, 2009 Posted June 14, 2009 Actually I believe that train travel is the statistically safest method of travel. It is also the easiest to sabotage.
