offde-fence Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I know there are a ton of Bills fans who hate the Bills recent penchant for bringing in CB's, but, when one goes down, it is a relief to have another one or two to take their place. It isn't far fetched to say that in the NFL, a team should have four good corners, of starting caliber. I like that we have four or five corners that could start on other teams. McGee's injury doesn't mean a lot now, so long as it's not serious. The other guys get reps, and that is good, especially as the Bills like to use their DB's for the return game. In our division, it might be better to be able to stop the run soundly - that'd give us a better chance against the Jets and the Dolphins, but, if we make the playoffs, we'll be facing the likes of Pittsburgh, N.E., Indy, San Diego, most likely at least one or two if we're lucky. We need to be able to handle a good passing game.
peanuts Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I agree, most people don't understand how important stopping the pass is in the playoffs & specail teams. Good post.
Max997 Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 why is CB different then any other position? wouldnt it be nice to have too many tackles and just be able to plug another in one when goes down? winning in the playoffs is just like winning in the regular season, you need to run and stop the run and that starts with both lines and on defense, a good pass rush will slow down any passing attack, perfect example is what the Giants did to the Patriots in the super bowl

DB is one of the hardest positions to fill with a marginal player, and to do so, you need to have a great front 7 and safetys to do so.

That should answer your question. Unless, of course, in your head there's a football scenario which requires more than two OTs on the field at once.

Corner is going into his second year as a 5th round draft pick, Florence failed as a starter and had to sign a 1-year deal to play the nickel, and Youboty is too fragile to last through OTA's, much less a season.

Yeah, because that happened the one time (when his mom died) and not the other two.
