First let me just say I thoroughly enjoy reading all of the topics and posts on this board, and for the most part, I just read and don't reply often. But since this time of year is so slow, I decided to voice a huge concern of mine. My biggest fear, in regard to this upcoming season, is that Buffalo improves it's record by, let's just say, two games, and finishes 9-7. Most likely that won't be enough to get us into the playoffs. But due to the improvement, ownership and management decides to keep DJ around....

I do not like, and have never liked Dick Jauron as the coach of the Buffalo Bills. I didn't like the pick when it was first made, and have never come around. The biggest thing I dislike about him is that he seems to be lifeless on the sidelines, and the team seems as if it's taken his identity. I think that they are okay with losing! In that recent article by Tim Graham about Jim Kelly, even Jimbo said that the locker room was dead, and you couldn't even tell if the team won or lost...that is truly, truly sad.

So, my question to everyone is this...What has to happen this year for the Bills to retain Jauron? Is a one or two game improvement going to be enough to keep him? Wild card?

Seeing as last season was supposed to be "Playoffs or Bust" I would hope that anything short of the playoffs would mean his dismissal.

I hope you are right. The sad thing though, i think if we were to finish 9-7, and somehow sneak into the playoffs as a wild-card, with a first round exit, that would be enough for them to keep jauron. Personally, i would need to see at least 10-6 for me to even think about wanting to see him return as a head coach. Because of the difficult schedule, i would think 10-6 would be enough to keep him.

The same thing that is happening currently: A 7-9 season, and the Bills manufacturing any reason to buy season

tickets.

sad...oh so sad....is that what we have become? a franchise that is only interested in making money, and could care less about fielding a winning product? i pray this isn't the case...

If Dick Juron is replaced he will be replaced with another Dick Juron type coach.

Do you all realize this?

I just can't see that happening. Not again. I believe that if the Bills sh$t the bed again this year, and Jauron is canned, RW will have no choice but to bring in a proven winner.

I wish what was true, but history has shown that he probably wont. Didnt we say the same thing after Williams and Mularkey?

I hope we have a good season. I hate to say it, but a bad season just means we start rebuilding with a new GM and HC. I like the team we have. With a few more key players, I think we have a chance. I dont think this season is it, but it could be. I think another off season like we have had with a couple key pickups we will be in the hunt.

Playoffs he stays for sure even with a bad first round loss.

10-6 without playoffs, he stays for sure (unless they like lose their last 3 games to end 10-6) and the reasoning will be no reason to get rid of him now that the team is so close, makes no sense to blow the whole thing up, etc.

And 9-7 and no playoffs he might even stay if the feeling is the team is getting very close.

Sorry, no way he is gone automatically if he fails to make the playoffs. Just wait until the end of the season if you think I'm an idiot by saying so.

I think this year it's Jauron's team, meaning that it is what he wants it to be, and will play as a team as a representation of he and his staff. They've got to make the playoffs for him to keep his job, and I don't think limping in will do it, either. If another AFC East team gets to 13 or 14 or better wins, and the Bills have to make it with a wild card, I'd think they'd have to have 10 wins to do so. Ten wins against our schedule is pretty good. But, most importantly, I think the team has to be consistently good, much better than average, and show identity consistently. They've got to look like a team that should be playing in the playoffs, that is well coached, and confident in their abilities. They can't be going up and down, some weeks flashing greatness, other weeks looking confused and frightened. So, it's 10 or more wins, and well run, consistent playoff caliber performances; because, next year there will be some good coaches available.

If he just makes a playoff appearance, I believe they keep him. I'd like to see him replaced if he has an early playoff exit, however, but I think this team is capable of making a deep run. Time will tell.

Division Title.

Jauron is in his fourth season and the Bills signed Terrell Owens. I know that does'nt automatically mean that the Bills will win the division, but why else would the Bills sign a player like Owens. Jauron knows how vital this season will be. Yes the schedule is brutal with the entire AFC & NFC South teams, but at the same time, the Patriots, Dolphins & Jets also have to play those same 8 teams. So their schedule is just as difficult as ours.

A division championship would secure Jauron's job. While a playoff spot would be good, theoretically that can be achieved with a 9-7 record, and I do not think that will be enough. Unless the Bills go 11-5 and get a wildcard, then that would probably save Jauron too.

Don't get your hopes up

regardless of what Kelly says, Dick is here for the duration - no matter how bad the record is in 2009 -- unless Ralph is out of the picture.

Dick is getting paid $6 mil for 3 years.

Ralph wouldn't cut him loose because he had to eat $ 6mil in 2008 and won;t do it for $4 mil in 2009

either.

People fail to understand that Dick orchestrated one of the greatest collapses in NFL history, going 2-8 and trashing a sure playoff spot.

Bills won;t have the luxury of a 5-1 start in 2009, so the overall record will be closer to an extrapolation of that 2-8 finish from last year.

Remember- It's tough to win in the NFL" - especially if Dick is your HC

If Jauron went 7-9 or less, I think he gets cut loose. Anything better and he could stay. After all, in a supposed make or break season, he went 2-8 in the final 10 against the second easiest schedule in the league and kept his job. Anything could happen at this point and it wouldn't surprise me.
