rolly Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I am posting this without doing any research, strictly going off of hearsay. Too lazy to look up the stats. Maybe he just gets so many balls his way, where the drops are more frequent in comparison to other WR's? If someone can find a % of drops for T.O. in regard to passes thrown his way, that would cement the argument.
bizell Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 T.O., throughout his career, has had a problem of dropping the football on easy catches.
billsfreak Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 On more than one occasion, he has led the NFL in dropped balls.
VOR Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 He usually makes up for it. This guy has the most TD's over the past 3 years.
Steely Dan Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 His first dropped balls came at age 13. IMO, he drops so many balls because he's thinking about making the big play before thinking about catching the ball first. JMO
Hazed and Amuzed Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 His first dropped balls came at age 13. Really? You can do better then that. PUNCH!
QB Bills Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Not to be a T.O. apologist, but if you look at which receivers have the most drops, they're usually some of the top guys at that position. It's just simple math. The more you get thrown to, the higher your drops will be. I don't think anyone would argue that Braylon Edwards is a really good receiver, but he had a lot of drops last year if I remember correctly.

Here are some numbers to chew on ... http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afceast/0-7-56/...-receivers.html He dropped 11.5 percent of his catchable passes, which would be four percent higher than last year's team average. All of the receivers are listed.
TimGraham Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 For context, here are the links to all four AFC East teams and their drops: http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afceast?search=...amp;x=0&y=0
bizell Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 heh. in the surprise of all surprises, robert royal w/ the 17.5 drop percentage led Buffalo.

VOR Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 STATS has Owens with 9 drops in 140 targets during 16 games. So he drops ~half a pass a game.
Magox Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 STATS has Owens with 8 drops in 140 targets during 16 games. So he drops ~half a pass a game. That's impossible
JinWPB Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I billieve he played with an injured hand most of last year. So if he dropped a few......
VOR Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 That's impossible Fine. He drops a pass every about other game. Happy?
Adam Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Both- he is still a very good receiver, but his skills are deteriorating. I expect 60-70 catches and 5-7 TD's this season
