KD in CA Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 No one thinks Glover has anything left? I haven't seen him play much so won't attempt to comment on if he's a better options than Carter or whoever else. But, in terms of priority, I think they still need to address: C1/C2 -- a rookie pass rush specialist does not fix the bad run defense. They are still weak in the middle. McCargo is a bust. A1 -- LB need is apparent. B3 -- Overpaying for a vet LT is not the answer.
Astrobot Posted May 17, 2009 Author Posted May 17, 2009 Astro: Can't we add to A-2: Move Poz to the outside? I think Poz's too slow for moving outside, and the Bills didn't draft ILB, so I think they're content with Poz/DiG inside.
Astrobot Posted May 17, 2009 Author Posted May 17, 2009 Pisa 6 mill, really? More like 3 at most.Levi 10 mill, really? He isn't worth half that. I made the numbers up, folks. ALL of these FA's could be signed for a cap hit of <13 mill total, but then we wouldn't have a discussion, would we?
billybob Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Pisa and Henderson or Dorsey- Bell is going to be the LT by the forth regular season game and hopefully before the season starts, But you know Juaron slow to recognize who can play and who can't.
Lurker Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 I made the numbers up, folks. ALL of these FA's could be signed for a cap hit of <13 mill total, but then we wouldn't have a discussion, would we? Sure we would. All you'd have to do is be able to divide...
LynchMob23 Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Keep in mind 5.94 mil of that is the rookie pool, so really we have 7 to play with minus fred's contract (if not already accounted)
billybob Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 for anyone wondering what Glenn Dorsey would cost in way of cap 7/26/2008: Signed a five-year, $33 million contract. The deal includes $22.5 million guaranteed. Another $18 million is available through incentives. 2009: $385,000, 2010: $983,500, 2011: $1,582,250, 2012: $2.181 million, 2013: $2.75 million, 2014: Free Agent
BuffaloBill Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 A1 I think Walker will be fine at LT. I like Butler at RT.... Do not ask me why, because I just do not know, but I have a gut feeling the light turns on for McCargo, and he shocks us all. And I mean Pro-Bowl Shocks! Now there is a huge reach on all counts.
flomoe Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 A4 - B3 - C1 Considering the young players the Bills have in at OLB right now, Harris and Compliance LB, the strategy to move Walker and Butler, the right move would be to shore up the DL considering it hasn't been address except for an UDFA.
12Kachy Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Well if any of you seen my posts, you know I'm pretty hard on the FO for always picking up 1000 DBs. So sign some more DBs. Really, go with Pisa for sure. Sign him to a long contract. Mitchell was a great pick up, but other then a couple of big plays, he really didn't seem to make that much of a difference. Now for you guys that say "well Ellison can do the job. he rated similar last year to Pisa", I seen the post and think about it. If you are playing the Bills, are you going to run at Mitchell, PP, or Ellison? The DL looked shady at best, but I'm not running inside at big Stroud or Kyle Williams. I'm going outside towards Ellison. For the DTs, stick with McCargo and Williams. You could go pay some DT huge money, but try to stick with the guys you got. They are not bad and we still have Johnson as well. I'm the same with the line. Let the rookies go out and play. playing Walker at LT, Butler at RT will work. LW did a good job and the line looked good until JP moved back over there. With the line this year, you can't do any worse then last year.
Thurman#1 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Let's say, just picking a number out of the air, you had $13 million dollars in cap money. Would you: PROBLEM A: Outside Linebacker A1. Go after Pisa Tinuisamoa LB and call it quits (Deduct $6 Million) A2. Forget Pisa --just go for Derrick Brooks LB for 2 years, looking at filling OLB through August cuts or draft (Deduct $7M) A3 Sign Morlon Greenwood--Syracuse grad is among youngest starters in FA at age 30 (Deduct $6 Million) A3. Do Nothing PROBLEM B: Veteran Left Tackle B1. Sign Levi Jones (Deduct $10 Million) B2. Sign Mark Tauscher (Deduct $7 Million) B3. Move Walker to the Left side and Use our drafted and existing players PROBLEM C: Defensive Tackle C1. Sign Kevin Carter (Deduct 6 Million) - Has played last 2 years for Bucs, still averages 4 sacks/yr. C2. Sign LaRoi Glover (Deduct 6 Million) - 6 sacks a year ago with Rams, off-year last year C3. Use McCargo and our drafted and existing players, and/or assume we get an August castoff I would Go for A2 and C1---Pisa and Kevin Carter. Astro, you said A2 and Pisa, but look again. A2 is Brooks in your post. Which is it? Don't know enough about Carter or Glover, but I'd sure like to see somebody help out at DT, at the right price. I'll take Brooks or Pisa (A1 or A2) and Jones (B1).

"WhosYourMama", Albert Hayensworth, Jason Peters and used the draft to take care of the LB void, if I were the Bills GM and had the money they did have under the cap, but that's just me. Only Ralph Wilson and Russ Brandon know where that money saved is going. Of course, spending all that crazy money may have fit under the "cap", but Ralph would have had to come up with some serious signing bonus cash, and of course we are still in small market Buffalo, after all!
BillsFan-4-Ever Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 How about ... Better coaching all around. *********** How much has Ralph pocketed the last 3 years in unspent cap $$$ 5 to 8 Mil a season. What makes you thing he's going to spend to the cap this season??
Leonidas Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I would have already signed T.J. Fixxxer Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 A1: Bring the Pizza boy to compete and eventually win the starting position over Ellison. B3: I think Walker will be alright, our RBs will have extra work this year in pass pro, but I feel comfortable with him there. Hopefully Bell 1 shows us something this year. C3/C4: Keep McCargo, maybe he's a mercenary and plays great for a contract, who knows? Sign Wendell Bryant, if he rediscovered his football desire he could surprise.

MarkyMannn Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Let's say, just picking a number out of the air, you had $13 million dollars in cap money. Would you: D1: With 9 home games and 75,000 tix/game, you could drop ticket prices by just under $20 each game
VJ91 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 D1: With 9 home games and 75,000 tix/game, you could drop ticket prices by just under $20 each game Great idea. That's exactly what the Bills should do. Wait, I know. Forget about just saving 20 bucks a game. Maybe you should try to get the Bills to move......every game to Toronto! Yeah, that's the ticket! (Pun intended.) Let's ask Wilson to move every home game up to Toronto, so then we would not have to pay anything to go to anymore Bills home games. What a terrific savings right there! Memo to "poor-minded" fans, the NFL doesn't care how poor Buffalo and Western NY is!
