Ben Watson on trade block

Why is it when the Pats dump big salary players they are hailed geniuses? If it were the Bills all we'd hear is how cheap Ralph is.

Because they replace the guy first then cut or trade him- instead of cutting people then looking around the table saying "now what"

The Patriots fill their holes before creating more. The Pats would have traded Peters, but they would have his replacement on the roster before the trade. They resign players they need, let walk players they dont. The Bills routinely let players who they need desperately, leave.

That's very funny. We assume that the Pats always have a replacement. Yet we also assume the Bills never do. Is it possible there are apoplectic Pats fans howling over how cheap the Pats* are not paying Watson and trading for some scrub from TB?

Nothing wrong with hating the Patrietts. But give them credit for having a proven front office that knows when to get rid of contracts. They got a first for Deion Branch, acquired Moss for a fourth, and pulled a Corleone on the Dolphins for Wes Welker. They find talent in the middle rounds as well as anyone and wisely use UFA. Adalius Thomas was a big name, but he fits their scheme perfectly. And oh yeah, they develop QB's better than anyone.

Until the Bills prove they're capable of success for at least two years (meaning playoffs) they'll be questioned. Because their track record stinks this decade.

Watson and Graham were both hailed as great tight ends coming out of the draft and they never materialized anywhere near that level, IMHO...if New England has one position where they draft poorly, tight end is it...

That is not a report.

That is a guy starting a rumor based on the evidence that 1.) The Patriots just traded for Alex Smith, and 2.) Watson will become a free agent.

Not to mention that Bill's buddy Scott Pioli, is now in need of a Tight End.

Not every whiney beyotch, just the ones who make the pro bowl twice. And really, the point isn't what they pay this or that player, the point is winning and the Bills don't do that. When you regularly lose and spend the post season on the golf course, your personnel decsions, especially when it involves dumping a two time pro bowler in his prime, are legitimately going be called into question. The Patriots let go of players but not guys in their prime, for them they break the bank. The guys they let go are the guys on the backsides of their careers like Lawyer Milloy. The Bills on the other hand, break the bank for aging, fading vets, like Schobel. The results are pretty obvious on the field.

Aaron Schobel Defensive Lineman 8/24/2007: Signed a seven-year, $50.5 million contract. The deal contains $21 million guaranteed, including Schobel's first four base salaries. 2009: $3.5 million, 2010: $6.025 million, 2011-2012: $6.5 million, 2013: $8.5 million, 2014: Free Agent

Don't you mean 29 year old DE's coming off 12 sack and 14 sack seasons?

Winning makes your FO smarter because players like Moss will drop no-trade clauses just to play for you. Everyone acts like The Bills could have offered a third and gotten Moss, like no other NFL thought of that. The fact is Moss picked his spot and it was NE*.

As for guys like Welker, etc. They do seem to be "rejuvinated" when they come to Foxboro. HGH does a body good.

My point is they seem to acquire players first then cut whoever- the Bills often cut then go looking- to use a chess analogy the Bills might be able to find good individual moves but NE is looking 5 or 6 moves ahead.
