BillsWatch Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/11688260 The Albany Firebirds, an arenafootball2 franchise, have offered the 28-year-old quarterback a one-year contract at the league standard: $200 a week plus a $50 bonus for a win. I wonder if he can count this as "community service".
Albany,n.y. Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 The offer is now off the table-they never ran it past the owner. Heard that on the 11:00 news.
BillsWatch Posted April 29, 2009 Author Posted April 29, 2009 I did not think he would take it anyways. He can get more making $10/hour on his release from prison job.
FluffHead Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 I don't think the Albany Firebirds even exist anymore. I thought they became Arena 2 Albany Conquest??? I may be wrong but I lived in the area and I know the firebirds left and the conquest came in.

Hence the confusion.
drinkTHEkoolaid Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 lol too funny... i guess that about what Vick is vauled at right now
Flutie Flakes Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 The owner, Walt Robb, is not only a shrewd businessman, he also is a firm believer that character counts. When he heard about this deal, he put the cabash on it immediately. Another reason was that Vick is on house arrest and would continue to be through most of their season. When all was said and done, he would have only been eligible to play in their last game, which is an away game. Deal made no sense on several levels.

So...he managed to get his and his team's name (previously anonymous to everyone) on the front of every sports page in the country and make himself out to be a moral pillar by 'rejecting' the idea?? Shrewd businessman indeed!
BillsFanForever19 Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 If he doesn't get reinstated in the NFL and/or a team doesn't want him, he'll go to the UFL. They need the star power in their league.
