Cornerville Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 I am not hating on the Bills draft, I thought it was a draft that deserves a B...cannot give them an A because this team did lose its LT and has not replaced him really at all. But seriously, is this 10 Corners drafted in 3 years? Is this normal? Jauron needs help.
PromoTheRobot Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Did you ever consider that these guys are being drafted mainly for their ST skills? I think the Bills use low picks as an ST draft. But I agree that all these CB's are weird. You'd think there's a LB that was worth a look. PTR
RayFinkle Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 But seriously, is this 10 Corners drafted in 3 years? Is this normal? Considering they only drafted 6 corners in the past 3 years, I would say that is not normal.
ExiledInIllinois Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 You know Dicky J was a DB when he played... Well, that is how I explain the man-love for defensive backs.

I was confused by the Byrd pick until I learned he'd play FS. I don't know the guy, but if he's the real deal it's a great pick. We're admitting we reached on Whitner and that he's better suited to play SS, even if he was a #8 overall pick. And there is 0% chance of re-signing McGee at the end of this year. Same goes for Florence. Personally, I love the idea of drafting a year or two ahead of time. That's how you stabilize your franchise.
San-O Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Considering they only drafted 6 corners in the past 3 years, I would say that is not normal. I posted last week about Bills taking more DBs than anyone. Received mixed responses. The Bills had drafted 7 DBs the past 3 years, so to draft another 3 or 3.5 would be even high for them. I count at least 10 DBs now over the past 4 drafts. There were approx. 40 CBs taken in this years draft, Buffalo took 3.
Dr. Trooth Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 dude... in reality, only 2 CBs were drafted. McGee's contract is up soon and they need to have a suitable replacement. Youboty is ready... but you have to question his durability. Florence is a short term piece of bubblegum to plug a hole. And, I don't see Corner ever getting a starting role.

So they are targeting undersized, slow CBs drafted in the 6th and 7th round as potential replacements for McGee? Sorry.

This is just my opinion, but I don't think Youboty is an NFL corner. He played great last year until he got injured, but he can't seem to stay healthy. He seems like a journeyman to me who ends up making a few plays over his career as the nickel or dime guy, but I don't think he supplants McGee. Reggie Corner might. Running the Tampa 2 means your corners are expendable, and the man-love for McGee is a bit much at times (as it was for Greer). I don't know a thing about the two CB's we drafted at the end of the draft, but I wouldn't be all that shocked if they worked their way into the rotation by 2010.
Ramius Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 There were approx. 40 CBs taken in this years draft, Buffalo took 3. Except they already have Byrd listed at S on the official roster. so no, CBs in rounds 6 and 7 isn't extreme, and that is only 2 CBs, not 3.
