That Hangartner could be the player backing up the C/G spots? If Hangartner doesn't prove to be more talented than Wood, Levitre, or Butler, he could play the same role here as he did in Carolina: backup interior lineman. IMO the line will probably read as follows:

LT - Walker

LG - Levitre

C - Wood

RG - Butler

RT - Bell/Chambers

Game day backups - Hangartner, Bell/Chambers

Hangartner's going to start at C and be their best O-lineman on opening day. Wood may develop into a better player eventually, but there's a lot to learn for a NFL rookie and he'll need time to adjust to the speed of the game and NFL DTs...

DJ says a lot of things. And I expect it, given that he's not about to show his hand this early. The truth will come out by about week 2 of camp where the Bills think certain players.

I'm still not going to say DJ is a savvy coach, but he's being his normal elusive self in addressing the media.

I think Hangartner will be able to hold off the youngins for at least this year. I hope he lives up to his billing.

Hangarthner should start. I thought he got a pretty good contract for a backup. He is being paid to start. It's a welcome problem to have too many guys at C and G.

With: Chambers, McKinney, Bell as the primary backups. Don't the Bills normally only dress 8 OL on gameday? Thsi way Chambers is first off the bench, unless Hangy goes down. In that case, slide Wood over to OC and Chambers to guard. McKinney is depth at interior OL and Bell is depth at OT.

He also said Crow would start in the middle when Poz was drafted.

There's a much bigger difference between shifting from OLB to MLB and from C to G....

The Bills had pegged Hangartner as their center well before free agency began, and why they were quick to go after him.

Am told, very unlikely that will change even with the players Bills added in draft.

If Hangartner starts for the Bills longer than half the season, the Oline is going to have a less than what the fans are expecting, in terms of overall performance. Hangartner is a career backup and marginal starter. They know he ain't the answer at C or G. The need to start him will depend on what the Bills end up doing at LT. If they have to move Butler or Walker over there, it will create a void, which Hangartner may have to fill. temporarily. I don't believe all the BS about D. Bell being penciled in at aither tackle... I'll believe it when I see him perform... and we'll know within a few games whether or not he's a bonafide starter.

They targeted Hangartner as the very first guy to go after in FA and signed him immediately to a decent contract. There is no question whatsoever he is penciled in as a starter at C, and they expect him to be there the entire year. The only reason that changes is if once they put on pads, the combination of OG Hangartner- C Wood is better than OG Wood - C Hangartner.

Understood. Still, if the pups turn into mad dogs early, put the best players on the field.

It took a long time this off-season to get the fan base excited, but this fan is pumped now! It's almost impossible to comprehend Lynch disappearing into the middle of the line...

Hangartner will be a fine center for the Bills. And I'd much rather trust a veteran there than a rookie.

This is exactly what i expect to see opening day. And i think it is a huge improvement over what started last year. Butler is as good at RT as Walker was last year. Levitre will have a learning curve but should develope into a very good gaurd. Wood will be better then Dockery was i believe. Hangartner is a huge upgrade over Fowler/Preston. Walker proved he could play LT. Chambers can work in with Walker some on LT and Bell works in on RT with Butler. McKinney is your interior depth.

To me this is a huge upgrade over last year. Even with Peters on the line last year. And his sub par play due to his hold out and eventual injury.

Demetrius Bell is not ready to just jump into the starting LT spot. Even Jason Peters started at RT before being moved. I'm not even sure if Bell had ANY regular season action on any part of the line last year, let alone Left Tackle. He may have all the potential in the world, but you don't just throw him into the fire like that.

Furthermore, Brad Butler has quietly turned into a very good offensive lineman. Honestly, he was arguably the most solid out of anyone last year. He certainly does not deserve to be benched. If anything, he'll be getting a promotion to RT, not a demotion.
