Big Turk Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 per Sean Kugler, Bills O-Line coach, who said both will be getting their first looks at guard. Does this mean the Bills are not happy with Butler's play? A little surprised, as I thought Butler had a major impact in the run game when he came back from injury. Bills averaged nearly 5 yards per carry running the ball in the second half of the season, and IMHO Butler played a large role in that... A little surprised, that's all...anyone else have an opinion on this?
Fingon Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Butler was a RT in college, so i think they might move him there.
JÂy RÛßeÒ Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 The Bills' 50th anniversary O-Line featured 4 guards and a center - maybe we're going to that model in real-life.
Bill from NYC Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 I don't think that Levitre will start right away if Butler is healthy. It is rough to start 2 rookies up front. You know what? Who cares. Players get hurt and players move on. He will get his chance and be a good one. Wood is a flat out beast, and I am saying that there will be no keeping him out of the starting lineup. This is freaking great!
Big Turk Posted April 26, 2009 Author Posted April 26, 2009 Butler was a RT in college, so i think they might move him there. Isn't he a little on the smallish side to play tackle?
Larry KenneBREW Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Butler is tuff and smart but it seems like he's hurt often.
BuffaloRebound Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 I'd be very surprised if the Bills traded up to get Levitre to be a backup. Walker, Levitre, Hangartner, Wood, and Butler should find a way to get on the field.
DanInSouthBuffalo Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Levitre has played every position except center. He's versatile.
Brandon Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Isn't he a little on the smallish side to play tackle? Considering that Butler is 6'7" 315lbs, that doesn't seem to be an issue.
Magox Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 I don't think you'll see Butler move out to tackle. There will be a lot of competition in the trenches, with Hangartner, Woods, Levitre, Mckinney and Butler. My guess is that the opening day interior line (barring no injuries) will be Woods, Hangartner at C, and Butler. You will probably see Levitre get some reps at tackle as well.
RI Bills Fan Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Our opening day line could very well be: LT: Walker LG: Wood OC: Hangartner RG: Levetre RT: Butler With Chambers and McKinney being the two "Dressed" reserves...
BillnutinHouston Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Considering that Butler is 6'7" 315lbs, that doesn't seem to be an issue. And remember, he was a tackle originally in college before we converted him to guard. My guess for the REVAMPED O-line: Walker - Wood - Hangartner - Levitre - Butler
