NoName Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 I say offensive line....when you look at the Bills Dline....they have several former 1st and or 2nd round picks....think of Stroud, Kelsay, Denney and Shobel...... Look at the Bills Oline and you don't have one guy on that bunch that was drafted in the 1st or 2nd round....I dont even think you have a 3rd rounder in the bunch.... Forget all this tight end business, the bills should spend their first three or four picks on both lines.....with their first round pick, I say the bills should draft DE E Brown if none of the OT's are available....with the other 1st rounder, get pettigrew if he is there, otherwise get Unger or another highly rated OT......2nd and 3rd round should be spent on drafting The best line talent you can get (preferably on offenese) Now what do you think??
ax4782 Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 The O-Line needs more help, but I don't think it has anything to do with the fact that there aren't currently any first or second rounders. Peters wasn't even drafted, and he's arguably a top 5 OL. Butler has also been a solid performer and Bell is apparently progressing in leaps and bounds if what we are hearing is to be believed. That being said, I think the Bills should shore up their biggest need, DE first, though I don't like Everette Brown. I would rather us sign a true 4-3 end than a tweener. That whole Vernon Gholston thing just didn't work out and these guys arguably don't have his talent. That being said, I agree that the majority of our first five picks should be on both lines. I would love for us to get Pettigrew though. Plus, he is one of the best blocking TEs available in the draft.
NoName Posted April 25, 2009 Author Posted April 25, 2009 good points on Peter and Butler.....and yea..the Gholston thing scares me too.......if we were to take Petigrew, it would have to be with the last 1st round pick....11 is way to much of a reach......let me throw out two names that people just seem to sleep on......Derrick Fine and Chris Ellis (last years 3rd rounder) I haven't heard Ellis mentioned at all......can he make an impact? After all, he is supposedly a pass rushing specilist.. Derrick Fine just didn't get enough time out there.....I think he can be a solid starter....what is so bad about him that people seem to think we need a tight end that bad
atlbillsfan1975 Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 If you looked at Defensive and offensive stats as a whole, then the O needs a lot more work. However the one stat that is glaring on D was sacks, or lack there of. I am an old Olineman myself and feel you really do win or loose a game with in the trenches. Bills need a pass rusher and an interior Olineman. TE is nice but should not be taken unless you can get quality guys at those other two areas. I believe the Bills get the pass rusher first. Then if( and its a big if) Pettigrew is there at 28, they take him. In the second could get one of if not the best interior lineman. Would shore up the Oline in two areas. Pettigrew is a tremendous blocker. Would be able to help who ever the Bills have playing at tackle. I think the Bills are going to see what Bell has this year. The pass rusher helps the entire defense play better. Interior Dlinemen are not as easily double teamed. And the DBs wont have to cover men as long.
billsfan89 Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 The O line needs two starters. The d-line needs one starter, but I think the defense in general needs more help, if the bills get two guys in the front seven and pick up a tight end or guard with their three picks I would be happy.
