billsfan89 Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 If the bills were to draft Oher or another one of the top tackles at number 11 than should the bills try to use a third or a fourth to get waters from the chiefs. A lot of mocks have us picking Oher in the first and a guard in the second like Mack or Unger. But having a rookie at Left tackle and center or guard could be a bad idea for developing an O-line. if we were to draft a player like Oher than we should make sure he is playing next to a high caliber veteran guard like Waters. On top of helping a LT we draft the trade would also free up the bills to draft a position of need with picks they would not be spending on a guard.
Dylanme8 Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 I think if we trade for waters we don't need to go ot at 11 we can wait till 28 or 42
Reed 83 Evans Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 I totally agree!! Let's take care of the offensive line and bite the bullet with the defensive line, maybe Chris Ellis will be better in his second season and the return of Schobel will help. I say draft the best OT left with the 11th pick and add a center and tight end with 28th and 42nd pick and then get on the phone with K C and see how we can attain Waters!! If this scenario played out and the draft picks don't turn out to be bust then we should have a solid offensive line for years to come. Find a linebacker, pass rusher, and safety in later rounds and/or through free agency or in a trade for a draft choice from next years draft!! Should be an interesting day!!

I don't think you have to "bite the billet", with the defensive line. There are several players we could obtain at #75 that have similar grades is the top tier of DE's. The only tweak I have in your scenario is that I the same opinion of the TE's. So the 42nd pick should be highest rated of DL/TE.

No way we get an OT with #11.... Come up with a new name dude..this one is taken
BillsGuyInMalta Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Waters is not coming to Buffalo. Dont you think if a trade could have been done, it would have already? There is zero incentive to wait for the Draft to roll around for the Bills to add an all-pro guard. TE, OLB...sure, there are some high profile players in this Draft. But there are no Guards even close to Waters' level, so why havent the Bills pulled the trigger on a trade yet? Two possible reasons: The Chiefs dont WANT to trade Waters in the first place. Or The Bills dont want to pony up the picks. Waters will not be a Buffalo Bill this weekend, sorry gents.
billsfan89 Posted April 25, 2009 Author Posted April 25, 2009 i think that the chiefs are trying to make it look like they are not trading waters at all to try and get the best value for him. But much like the peters situation he does not want to be there so if the bills get the first three picks they want than i could see them going for a fourth although they probably want a third which is why there has been no trade yet. If you were the chiefs and you were offered a fourth for a 32 year old guard who does not want to be there and wants an extension. As much as I think the chiefs want a third for him I think they will settle for a fourth its better than releasing him for nothing.
