Erik
Less money than Ryan I believe. Â Deservedly so...but honestly with the money the #1 pick makes nowadays why wouldn't you sign a QB? It's about the only position you'll be able to go at or below market value.

davefan66
Pretty much old news, but now the fun begins! Â My question: How much time does Detroit take off the clock to "officially" submit the pick?? I say the full time.
BuffaloBob
Shouldn't you say "money less Ryan than believe I" That was the guaranteed money! Could be worth as much as 78 Mil! Yikes!
2020 Our Year For Sure
Didn't they say Curry's deal would've been 5 years/$57M? Why was he gonna get over $11M a year but Stafford isn't even getting $7M a year? That deal seems remarkably low for a QB 1st overall. Â Â edit: Ah, the post above mine explains it. Probably should edit the thread title.

MiamiGeorge
I don't want to sound like I am "hating" on the kid, but the NFL seriously needs to cap these rookies...Simply amazing how much these 21-23 year olds are making. This is coming from a 26 yr old

BEAST MODE BABY!
Less money than Ryan I believe. Â Ryan had 34.x million guaranteed and a total of 72 million. ESPN siad this was the largest rookie contract ever. Ridiculous.
H2o
Shouldn't you say "money less Ryan than believe I" Â Wow. If it is actaully $41 million guaranteed money? Whoa. I don't think the Bills will be moving up to select anyone. That's outrageous.
BobDVA
Â Wow. If it is actaully $41 million guaranteed money? Whoa. I don't think the Bills will be moving up to select anyone. That's outragious. Â I have all the lights in my house off, so that my electric bill will be low enough to keep all the lights on. Yes waterman, it is unbelievable! Tim Anderson's Lunch Pail
I am usually indifferent towards any changes the NFL makes, but I am very passionate about a rookie cap. The numbers make no sense to me, every single year. Kind of makes you wonder how TEAMS (ultimately, they're paying it) let things spiral so out of control. Steely Dan
I forget where I read this but supposedly junior QB's have a high bust rate. That doesn't look good for Stafford and Sanchez. The other big thing that leads a QB to bust is being drafted by Detroit. I think they should have gone for Curry and then spent the third pick in the draft next year on a QB when the class is going to be a lot deeper. LabattBlue
I like Tom Jackson, but he just said on ESPN that Stafford should not only ride the pine his first year, but maybe even his entire second year. $41 mil guaranteed, #1 overall and you want him to sit on the bench for two years? silvermike
Wowza - Detroit had a very public opportunity to sign Curry and stop the madness, yet they decided to keep they cycle going by making Drew Stafford sorry, MATT Stafford the highest paid rookie in NFL history and what, the 3rd highest paid QB in the league? They might as well cut Daunte Culpepper now: there's nothing he can do that will help the team, least of all put together a good season.
