I Guess Ms. USA

Recommended Posts

Now how did I know that. I will be celebrating 26 years next month. And a word to you if you want to make it to week seven (let alone year 26) do not listen to anything I've told you in this thread.

Noted. I'll take the empties to the recycling spot after work. :)

And congrats on 26 years...if you make it through this month.

Not that I've ever watched a pageant, but knowingly? Come on really? You're telling me those blonds on stage know anything about what they are saying, much less the consequences of them? You've got to be yanking my chain.

There probably isn't a Rhodes scholar in the group, and a good majority of them probably flirted their way through high school, but they aren't all retards. My friend who was in it this year ain't a brainiac, but she's quick...not a ditz. The girl who was Miss Delaware last year isn't stupid either.

If the question was something along the lines of "One train is leaving NY going 85 MPH...." then I'm sure none on them would have the slightest clue. But just because they aren't IVY leaguers doesn't mean they don't understand the consequences of they are saying. If anything, they probably have more experience speaking diplomatically and trying to give a good answer than you do. It's part of the game.

Miss California knew what she was getting into. You can be stupid (and I'm not saying she is) and still understand that you are about to damage your reputation in a certain context by saying something unpopular. It's not like she thought everyone would applaud her opinion.

Natalie Mains expressed her beliefs, as I recall, and was pilloried for it. Double standard? Maybe. Dick Cheney is also expressing his beliefs and people are leaving him alone. I wonder what would have happened had Jimmy Carter and

Walter Mondale gone after Raygun less than 3 months into his administration? hmmmmm

I don't watch pageants but this doesn't offend me. I don't agree with her but nothing I've read makes me think that she was vicious in any way. She has a belief, and she expressed it. These pageant people had to know that no matter what she said, people would be offended. It wasn't really an appropriate question for a beauty pageant.

I just want to say that although I still think youre a dumb lib (), youve got my respect, becuase at least you can see the forest for the trees, something most arent able to do.

Huh? You're against gay marriage because you think it's going to bankrupt the health system?

Well it can't help the health system... Explain to me how it will help? That is why the gays are fighting for acceptance of gay marriage (ie: so they can get the benefits), right?.

Why is that dumb? More people riding the coat tails of others to get benefits... At a cheaper rate than if they would secure those benefits independently?

Again, explain to me how it (gay marriage) can help an already broken health system? I have explained already how it can make things worse WITHOUT even getting into the higher potential health risks that a gay lifestyle brings to the table. And before you mock me again... The risks factors ARE greater than heterosexual relations with just the risk of AIDS alone. I am not needlessly stereotyping... The risk factors are there.

Please flame away and tell me how stupid I am. I have no problem with people and how they live, I just think there needs to be LIMITS on what is accepted and what isn't. And there sure the hell is enough problems with the heterosexual institution of marriage... Why compund it.

I can't speak for the rest of the country, but in California, a homosexual can have their partner covered on their health insurance. They don't need to be married for that benefit.

Don't you conservatives understand, free speech is only allowed if you are for gay rights, against religion, for the proping up of poor, lazy people.

Rich, Christian, traditional marriage people are to be beat down at every chance.

If being rich, Christian, and traditional means actively and/or passively subjugating a group that in no way shape or form impacts the rich traditional Christians, then this has NOTHING to do with free-speech. Nice try.

Oh, no wonder Cali is in such deep do-do...:flirt:

Anyway, I didn't know that... Then what is the point about the term "marriage." I just don't approve of the lifestyle and find it appropriate. That doesn't mean I can't be tolerant of it... Just not in this form. No way should the lifestyle get mainstream status.

I believe it does and many people also feel that way. Why not take it to a vote? Oh wait, they did in California.:huh:

Not much. And that's why I thought the whole thing is childish, to me it's they want to be able to tell people they're married too. It's all about a word. All of the financial issues (step ups, spousal IRAs etc) are federal issues and have nothing to do with the state.

Bitter much?

Actually, not. I was never interested in beauty pageants either as an observer or participant. And I am actually considered to be pretty. Short, but pretty. And I'm smart enough to know that beauty doesn't last forever.

So if the point of a beauty pageant is to judge beauty, fine. But don't try to "upgrade" it by pretending that other stuff counts. Because if talent or brains would possibly make up for a shortcoming in the beauty department, then we'd see more Susan Boyles on the runway then wouldn't we?

I am sure you are just a fine hunk yourself ...of what, I can't say. And couldn't care less.

Funny....I beleive in the traditional definition of marriage, but a VERY close family member is gay and still managed to get married to her partner.

How my opinion cant even "subjugate" somebody so close to me, let alone the gay community at large means either Im not very good at "subjugation"...or youre full of sh--, as usual.

Tell ya what...us "close minded" Christians will leave the gay community alone and let them marry each other till the cows come home if you libs so concerned about rights will leave US alone and free to put up a CHRISTMAS tree in front of the library next December. We will take care of Miss USA, YOU get that Newdow clown off our asses. Oh...and if we are going to "give" you gay marriage...becuase clearly gays cant marry unless EVERYONE agrees to the practice, then I want Rosie O'Donnell done away with. Permanently. Get her job as a fluffer for gay porn...I dont care. And like Lex Luthor annexing Austrailia, I want Fire Island back. All of it.

Deal?

Shouldn't gay people be able to decide the winner of the pageants they watch.

This reminds me of all the gay rumors surrounding Mike Piazza in NYC a few years back.

The guy dated the Playmate of the Millennium and then married another Playmate.

I should be so gay.

Yeah, and sad to say: close-minded bigotry ruled the day that one time.

Just out of curiosity, how does another peson's marriage affect you or yours?

Sounds fine to me. I'd love for Rosie to just right away explode, and I think if a community wants to make public their religious iconography, they're more than welcomed to it.

I think we've made a fine deal today!
