dave mcbride Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 http://www.philly.com/dailynews/sports/200...n_Andrews_.html And round and round we go... Actually, the piece doesn't say that at all.
ans4e64 Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Actually, the piece doesn't say that at all. Exactly. You guys are ridiculous.
Tortured Soul Posted April 20, 2009 Author Posted April 20, 2009 Actually, the piece doesn't say that at all. It's speculation - hence the question mark.
LynchMob23 Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 It asks the question without actually getting into it... The problem is, both the Bills and the Eagles have tried to pre-emptively re-sign key players prior to them "hitting it big" and both have had to trade some of that talent because they felt the new deal wasn't as deserving (later) as it should have been. What should be a great tool for developing talent is becoming a big problem.
VOR Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Actually, the piece doesn't say that at all. It's called implication. Shawn Andrews was reportedly unhappy with his contract (hmmm, sounds familiar) and now see's a former team/roommate making almost 3 times what he does. Why would he be upset?
The Tomcat Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Actually, the piece doesn't say that at all. That was my take as well.

AND he's got to earn that money over 3-5 more years than his counterparts...
Lurker Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Actually, the piece doesn't say that at all. If nothing else, it raises the possibility that these guys might end up being a better act than the Three Stooges...
Maddog69 Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 If nothing else, it raises the possibility that these guys might end up being a better act than the Three Stooges... Peters just made the mess in Philly even worse. They finally moved Lito Sheppard then they brought in Andrews and Peters fo big money. Peters even had 2 years left on his deal. Now the other Andrews is pissed and so is Sheldon Brown. The best part was the official response from the Eagles. Some crap about Brown needing to play out the rest of his contract before getting a new one. So players that work hard for you have to live up to their contract, whiney, slackers that you trade for can get a hige new contract right away. Makes our Front office look like geniouses.
silvermike Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 I don't know much about other sports, but contract holdouts seem to be much, much rarer in the NHL, NBA, and Major League Baseball. Can the NFL get to that point? I think the fans are sick of this s#it. Is it a tradeoff for guaranteed contracts?
