Nanker Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 That's Rookie Head Coaches - not RCHs! Here's the record of the four 2008 Rookie Head Coaches: Tony Sporano 11-5 Mike Smith 11-5 John Harbaugh 11-5 Jim Zorn 8-8 Here the list of the brand new RCHs in 2009 and whom they replaced: NYJ Rex Ryan – Eric Mangini KC Todd Haley – Herm Edwards DEN Josh McDaniels – Mike Shannahan INDY Jim Caldwell – Tony Dungy BUCS Raheem Morris – Jon Gruden DET Jim Schwartz – Rod Marinelli RAMS Steve Spagnuolo – Scott Linehan/Haslett And don't forget about these still slightly newbies: OAK Tom Cable – Lane Kiffin/Cable SF Mike Singeltary – Mike Nolan/Singletary And of course two retreads: SEA Jim Mora – Mike Holmgren CLE Eric Mangini – Romeo Crennel You look at the experience level of most of those rookies and it's scary thin. Ralph rarely misses an opportunity to point out that Head Coaches don't make or miss tackles, run or fumble the ball, catch or drop passes or throw TDs or interceptions. But even he has to admit the HC is responsible for training and motivating the players that do, and he's responsible for designing a game plan, making mid-game adjustments and clock management. It'll be particularly galling if Jim Schwartz ends up with a better record than Jauron does in 2009 and we have a losing record Vs the AFCE.
