Hey CFL, were you watching the right league last year buddy? Peters was absolutely dreadful last year. He was fat, slow and LAZY. It is hard to see how good he is, because he hasn't been very good. How often did Peters and Dockery obliterate the right side of any D Line? It just did not happen with any sort of regularity. For whatever reason, people get on someones bandwagon and make them out to be the best player at their position. The media put a player on a pedistal and before you know it Peters is Anthony Munoz. The whole thing became a big joke. What has Jason Peters done to make so many of you think he was the Bills savior? I just don't see it, and I have watched a lot of football over my lifetime. I just see Joey Porter going around him like he either didn't care, or just plain old SUCKED!! A new era is coming. Get on board because it is about to get a whole lot better.

Yes, I was watching the right league. Apparantly so were the Eagles. The Bills...not so much.

The problem with the piece is that it says Peters wasn't good in 2007 and didn't deserve the Pro Bowl. First off, that's manifestly wrong. Secondly, he didn't go to the Pro Bowl on rep in 07. No one knew who he was, and it was his first year at LT. He was great that year, and this guy picks out a stupid stat about sacks to make an illegitimate claim. Note that I'm not talking about 08.

Much of the Peters hype seems related to a desire to be an NFL expert. "Sacks allowed are not that important of a stat! Blocking schemes!" "I know line play!"

When I told my wife about the Peters trade, she was like "good, he sucks." This is coming from someone who does not follow football except indulging me by watching Bills games on Sunday. Every time there was a sack or a call against the line, she was like, "I'll bet it was Peters." More often than not, it was. I would defend the guy and talk about how he's a pro-bowl player. I would say how he's the best player the Bills have. Then a little while later there would be a sack and lo and behold, the replay shows the sacker blowing by Peters.

I wonder if maybe the emperor has no clothes...

That's not what the guy said. He said Peters got exponentially worse since the 2006 season. He didn't say Peter's wasn't any good in 2007 at all. He said his performance in 2007 was worse than 2006, and that 2008 was really bad. All true.

Actually, Peters was better in 07 than 06. He played a harder position at a higher level.
