DrDawkinstein Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 What is the point of drafting good players and hoping they're among the best at their position if we're unwilling to keep them? Why should I hope our next pick is good? So we can trade him for more draft picks? The Bills were right in not paying Clements $100million. They were right in not overpaying Peters. Coupled with the possibility of Peters wanting out of Buffalo, this wasn't exactly a devious plan by the FO. We'll see what happens when the Eagles extend Peters. If he signs a 5year/$45mil contract with them, then it's pretty clear that he wanted out of Buffalo. If they give him a 6year/$75mil contract then we know the Bills got outbid for a player they thought wasn't worth it. Only time will tell the deal he gets and whether or not he's worth it.
Kelly the Dog Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 What are the chances that our #11 pick, the LT prospect, is NOT going to hold out all training camp for more money.
Cornerville Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 no brain, you say, yet he scored twice as high on the wonderlic the the eagles' new fatboy, jason peters! And when Peters DOMINATES and gets to you know, Super Bowls or the Playoffs that we can only dream of around here, let me know how it feels to hate on Peters so much, we are stuck with getting off on hearing Mel says "Bills graded well this draft' and we let more players get away. Pat yourself on the back.

And what if it's in between, which it probably will be, then the Bills got hosed and didn't know how much a top player was worth like a more successful team?

Why should I hope our next pick is good? So we can trade him for more draft picks? with the exception of Pat Williams who have the Bills not resigned that they should have? Clements, Winfield? Neither was worth what they got paying Peters what he wanted would have been a mistake for this franchise so the only solution was to trade him...if they can get Oher or another LT with one of their first round picks and possibly take one of the Centers, best DE's available or TE with their other then they can go in a number of directions with their second round pick the Bills are in position to fill holes with players that should be able to step right in, the concern is will they make the right selections
Kelly the Dog Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 the Bills are in position to fill holes with players that should be able to step right in, the concern is will they make the right selections Good one, Max!!
Bill from NYC Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 with the exception of Pat Williams who have the Bills not resigned that they should have? Clements, Winfield? Neither was worth what they got But you see Max, when Clements and Winfield were let go, they had to be replaced. When Thomas Smith was let go, he too had to be replaced. Same with Burress. When Whitner leaves town they will draft his replacement too. How can they possibly win by drafting first round dbs, developing them, letting them walk, and then drafting more first round dbs? It can't possibly work.

I dont agree with the thinking that they need to spend their first round picks on DB's as much as they do...teams find quality DB's after the first round every year and thats where the Bills should be looking....they need to start using their first round picks on Lineman and LB's their thinking is backwards, instead of drafting from the trenches out they draft from the secondary in and it clearly hasnt worked
GoBillsDB Posted April 17, 2009 Posted April 17, 2009 I'm now finally excited about this draft Ah yes, late April... the most exciting part of the Buffalo Bills season... Who knows, they might just draft two superstars in the first round. Of course, those superstars will be gone in 4 years.
