Kipers Hair
You know what - He might be making great moves - we'll know in a couple of years. I like the fact that he is at least decisive.....No doubts on the direction and willingness to dance if the song is right.
In space no one can hear
Peters agent just schooled the boy GM. A player that has 2 years left on his contract(after which he can be franchised) holds the team hostage. Would this have happened to Polian? A.J. Smith, Pioli, Parcells? Peters WILL get payed and will play for a team that wins consistently. The Bills? Will save money.

He would have played lackidaysically(sp) like he did last season for the remaining 2 years on his contract. He was a distraction to the team and absolutely not worht the money he was asking for.I like the trade although i wish the Bills could have gotten their 21st pick and a 5th instead

Heitz
You know what - He might be making great moves - we'll know in a couple of years. Wrong, wrong, wrong. In the fast moving, hard hitting world of the NFL you judge things the second they happen. Trades, draft picks, coin tosses - the SECOND they happen you judge them as good or bad. Period. You know what I doubt that you really even *are* Mel Kipers hair...

OF COURSE it would have...Peters wanted his money, and it didnt matter which GM was here, he wants to be paid, and paid more than he warrants at this point. The Bills FO played this EXACTLY like they should have...they were not bullied, they didnt cave, and when Peters made it clear he was willing to hurt the team for his unreasonable demands, they said FU and shipped him out as they should have. The FO got this 100% right in trading him...and none of the GM's you listed would have done anything different.

It almost looked like Peters was not going to be a team players...It almost looked like Peters wanted to play for another team....Harrison the leagues defensive MVP signed for 20M guaranteed money when Hayneswoth is guaranteed to make 43 million of his contract.../That is a steep discount to stay loyal to the team that gave him a shot as a UDFA....On the other hand Peters never showed anything for the Bills... The Bills are a small market franchise and cannot wrangle in contract disputes with their players...That is why this trade makes more sense.... jahnyc
There are some missing pieces to this story. The Bills seemed to indicate last year that Peters would not communicate with them before and during the holdout. They acted surprised, but there must have been some indication that he was unhappy with his deal. Similarly, when Peters reported to camp, it was reported that the Bills and Peters agreed that they would engage in discussions about a new deal, but Peters said at the end of the season that the Bills had not done so. One other question about this situation. Is it possible that Peters became unhappy after McNally left as coach of the o-line? I have a suspicion that Peters' weak play last year was not just about reporting late, but partly a result of the line coaching.

San Jose Bills Fan
I think we've discussed our positions and their rationales on the Peters situation ad nauseum. At this point the only constructive conversation is whether people think we got good value for him. Personally I do not.
BillsVet
unfortunately it is looking like a skid mark. Everything will play out in due time. It's kinda like the decision to hire Levy as GM. The move was heralded by know-nothings who had blinders on and saw only the glory days with Marv stepping to the podium. Those same people were so invested in cheerleading for Marv that they can't admit how bad he was. Three years, multiple arrests, three 7-9 seasons, and unrealized expectations later we know Levy failed miserably. So did his hand-picked HC DJ. The Bills may be a memory three years from today, especially the way Rogers is speaking. I'm continually amazed that fans find a silver lining to a franchise that hasn't won, is actively looking to sell more games, and trades their best players. That skid mark may be all we're left with in due time.
