Chef Jim
Actually, you moron, I didn't mock them. One of your own even agreed wtih me. I support their right to protest. I support anyone's right to counterprotest. In other words, I don't give a damn. Only nutjobs at the extreme end of each political spectrum seem to have their shorts in a bunch over this. So what color are you shorts and what kind of a knot are the bunched up into?

BillsFan-4-Ever
Yes, they didn't mind being taxed but they objected to being taxed and not having representation in Parliament. And yes, it does seem kinda silly. These guys are just bitching about who's spending the taxes, and how. I guess they're just not a creative bunch. That being the case I can see why the thread originator jumped to the conclusion that they are Republicans. But they're not. It's harmless. I don't know what the problem is. People have a right to complain, and I don't see anyone in THIS administration calling them in cahoots with the evildoers for expressing their disagreement. How refreshing is THAT. Funny thing is .. where was this outrage a year ago.. Obama has cut taxes twice and raised taxes on cigarettes.. All of a sudden we need to have TEA party rallies? These people are SORE losers that want to whine just to be heard.

Typical TBD Guy
You don't have "time"? That's the lamest response you've ever posted and that's quite an accomplishment. You're nothing more than a !@#$ing myna bird who repeats whatever he hears with the zeal of a two year old who's been promised a trip to Chucky Cheese. You've got plenty of time. What you're missing is ability. conner last posted in this thread Sunday night. It's now Wednesday night. Since then he's gone on to start another thread and add numerous other posts of various length on the PPP board. But apparently he still doesn't have time to return here. Of course, when your only argument is that you TRUST Obama will do the right thing, what else is there really to say? It would be nice if he could assuage my fears of hyperinflation within the next two years or so, but apparently the fundamental principles of economics don't apply to the United States when The Chosen One is in office. What most of you do not know is these are mostly from the libertarian mindset and former Ron Paul supporters. They had a tea party before the last election so the idea that this is "all of a sudden" is lame. The difference is that now there is more outrage because of the new president, but the core of these groups are Ron Paul people, and like minded friends of liberty, who protested the last administration in case anyone forgets. The sad thing is groups like CNN are making this a FOX special, when it never was, and now that FOX is trying to capitalize on it the other media stations are pouncing on it. The media is so biased it's ridiculous.

However, there is a strong undercurrent of anger at higher taxes and unsustainable spending, even though it may be misdirected at the new administration. My guess is one of two things happens... 1- Force the Dem Congress and Obama to restrain spending, like Clinton did after Ross Perot's strong run in the popular vote in 1992. 2- This issue will be the ones Republicans seize upon to regain some power in the midterms. If they are smart, they will hammer the Dems on taxes and spending at every turn. They will need to apologize for past transgressions in their own taxes and spending ways, but a "Return to Party's Roots" theme with respect to limited government would work well for them. Either way, its good for those of us who actually believe in limited government and low taxes.
blzrul
Well by most accounts (scratch the extreme left and right accounts) there were tens of thousand across the country. Probaby not enough folks to fill the average Obama rally. But I hope they all feel good that they exercised their right to scream. Apparently I should not have believed the "spokesman" who claimed this as an apolitical statement ... because either it never was or they let themselves be hijacked and used by the wingnuts. In any event that will cost them their credibility. I saw a video this morning of a women dressed in full clown regalia stating that they're doing this to fight "taxation w/o representation". So that are just a bunch of stupid freaking morons. Too bad - it really had possibilities.
Wacka
Typical drivel from you. I saw on a conservative web site a running tally of events and attendance from people that went to them.. I know of at least three here in the SF bay area that weren't on the list. The list estimated about 400-450K people across the country, and no free concert to draw people in (like Obama's "rally" in Portland). The rally in front of the Alamo alone had 10-15 K. This is for a weekday where the weather wascrappy in many cities.

Why are you pretending that calling Obama names (socialist, communist, etc.) has any less weight than when you called Bush a Fascist. Let's see... Just looking at the basics: Obama's entire term so far has shown us that he's going to try and make everyone equal to appease the masses. He's going to print and print more money, ignoring the future ramifications such as output not increasing, because of the obvious foresight of future inflation, and serious downgrade in our upcoming generations' quality of life. AND he's doing this while being embarrassed about America. He's building a legacy. And you're going to build it brick by brick. Starting with laughing when people tell you he is socialist. RkFast
I watched a bunch of coverage on this last night after getting home from the ballgame. A few comments: 1. Media people using an offensive name to describe these things and all of sudden the "exposure" of who is behind these events PROVES WITHOUT A DOUBT that the media is biased. Where was the media when ANSWER, a !@#$ing Communist front...admitted by THEM on THEIR website....was throwing war protests? 2. Its clear without a doubt that compared to LIBERAL protesters, Republican ones are.......just as !@#$ing creepy.

So that are just a bunch of stupid freaking morons. Too bad - it really had possibilities. There were tens of thousands just in Southern Cal, and by all accounts there were hundreds of thousands across the country. But I appreciate how you, in a sense, never watched the Bills play on Sunday, but watched a two-minute video on NFL.com and show up Monday telling everyone why the team sucks. And it continues to have terrific possibilities because, as generally happens in these situations, ideas start getting flushed out. Ultimately, people started realizing that simply picking on Obama doesn't do any good at this moment for a number or reasons (not the least of which was that there were a lot of Obama supporters attending these events) and that it's time to chip away at the foundation. So a lot of people were focused on local initiatives (like upcoming spending propositions in Cal) as well as house seats up in 2010. You can laugh and mock if you want, and try to take that casual "Gee, aren't the morons cute when the protest," you'd be making a mistake by any measure.
