Maddog69 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writ...ex.html?eref=T1 Crabtree will never make it to 11. But if he were there, the Bills have to consider him. He is a potential difference maker for years to come. While DE is more of an immediate need, they Bills might have Crabtree rated so much higher on there board that they have to take him. I would not be upset with this pick.
The Dean Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 they Bills might have Crabtree rated so much higher on there board that they have to take him. Possibly, but I really can't see why.

I would have to agree with you. If he is there at 11 (stranger things have happened) you can't pass up on a pure talent like that. Especially since TO is not guaranteed in 2010 and the jury is still out on Johnson and Hardy. Plus, if we trade Parrish, there's our new PR. Crabtree is probably a Pro Bowler within 3 years IMO.
el Tigre Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writ...ex.html?eref=T1 Why do you think this mock is so bad? Crabtree wouldn't be my pick but if he turns out to be another Larry Fitzgerald, which I think is possible,it would turn out great.
lets_go_bills Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 That is a bad mock, as a whole. Kudos to him for making things interesting and going against what other mocks have, but this mock almost seems to defy all logic. However, I could see the Bills taking Crabtree and wouldn't have any problem with it at all. WRs take time to develop and TO is only on board for a year, so it makes sense. It's also a case of best-player-available. Crabtree being there at pick 11 constitutes a fall and we'd be silly not to jump all over that. Forty time, or not, he's a machine and he'd look great in Bills uniform.
Magox Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Crabtree is overrated. I hope he isn't even close to our radar of consideration. He played under Mike Leaches Pass happy system and his over inflated stats made him look better than what he really is. Pass

Leonidas Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Oh my God. Those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it. Two words: Detroit Lions. Want to know one reason they suck?? They stunted their growth by taking WR's four years in a row when they had open wounds at other positions like offensive and defensive line. Everyone said Charles Rogers and Mike Williams were going to be all stars too. Meanwhile the Lions picked WR's and ignored other needs. Eventually they got to a point where they went 0-16. We have seven WR's on the roster, six of them in their 20's. We do *not* need another one...but there are a lot of positions we do need to fill. PASS.
BuffaloRebound Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 If the Bills take a WR, CB, or RB in the 1st round, all hope is lost. Even if the Bills think Crabtree is a top 5 talent, I'd hope they trade down in that scenario. I'd much rather see the Bills take one of the QB's than Crabtree.

They've gotta replace Roscoe somehow. Seriously, though, drafting for need is a chump's game on balance unless it's a QB.
Steely Dan Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Crabtree is overrated. I hope he isn't even close to our radar of consideration. He played under Mike Leaches Pass happy system and his over inflated stats made him look better than what he really is. Pass Not a big fan either. First of all he's only 6'1" and not the 6'3" he was advertised as before the combine. Also it's been said he's immature and thinks he's already arrived and there is a chance he will coast after getting a big payday. He has a history of foot problems, most recently had surgery on a stress fracture on his foot March 4th. It's a 10 week recovery. Let him go somewhere else. Oh my God. Those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it. Two words: Detroit Lions. Want to know one reason they suck?? I really hope he does fall to Buffalo because they'd probably have more than a few trade partners looking at him.

He catches anything near him. He would have looked great in any system.
PushthePile Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Am i supposed to believe there isn't another Crabtree next year. or the year after? Good point! You can't say that about every player in the draft.
The Dean Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 They've gotta replace Roscoe somehow. Seriously, though, drafting for need is a chump's game on balance unless it's a QB. Drafting EXCLUSIVELY on need is a chump's game. Drafting "the best player available" is nearly meaningless without including need as context.
Bill from NYC Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Drafting EXCLUSIVELY on need is a chump's game. Drafting "the best player available" is nearly meaningless without including need as context. Bingo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But CJ is gonna be a hall of famer. He is crazy good. They've been a total mess for years, but ignoring the lines and QB was their main problem.
drinkTHEkoolaid Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 i think if he is there the bills should look to shop the pick, if there are no takers then pick him. i think he is too good to pass up. TO is a 1 year deal/experiment. he is 99% chance gone next year unless he has an epithany and loves buffalo... james hardy needs to show improvement, he may never develop into what we hope/want him to become. and right there our wr corps is already back to being increadibly average at best. Add crabtree and he would immediatly solidify the position. he is not the bills biggest need by any stretch of the imagination but if he is there i would have a hard time saying no to the idea... unless raji was still floating around i think it's increadibly possible crabtree might still be there. EVERY year there are suprise "drops/reaches" and the draft NEVER goes how all the "mocks" guesstimate it will turn out
The Dean Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 i think if he is there the bills should look to shop the pick, if there are no takers then pick him. i think he is too good to pass up. There are some who think he isn't the best WR in the draft. And for him to fall to #11, it is likely one, or even two WRs have already been picked. Would you be OK if the Bills picked Malcolm Jenkins, if they have him rated as the best player available?
NewEra Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writ...ex.html?eref=T1 Is it the worst because you don't think we should draft crabtree of he's there?
