EZC-Boston Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Clubs...ask the concierge at your hotel for passes. The passes will let you cut the line, but you still may have to throw somw $$ at the doorman (depnding on the club/time of nite you go). Pool...You must go to the Hard Rock Pool and get a cabana for the day. Hottest chicks anywhere during the day. Agreed failed to mention that. Went a few years back and stayed at the Hard Rock right when the Dodgeball movie was coming out. Sunday during "Rehab" (the biggest and best pool party in the world) they had Stripper Dodgeball, teams from all the clubs, it was awesome! I've never seen so much silicone and steroid use as I did that day and I think it has only gotten better (there was actually a reality TV show about it this year) Staying at the Hard Rock was awesome because NOBODY brings there kids there. The pool is full of hot chicks (even during the week) and not a single screaming child, which I don't think any place other than the Palms can boast. That being said, for your first trip, I'd stay on the strip, it's awesome to be able to walk wherever you want. I prefer the Caesar's end because you can get more places quicker but the MGM end is cool too. Vegas baby!
Stussy109 Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Why does that just sound like really good advice for some reason? Haha, thanks. Thanks for all of the advice, that's gonna help a lot. I NEVER play slots, almost all blacjack as far as table games go. Might sit in the poker room for at least a few hours though as well. I'm actually looking into staying at Planet Hollywood, have heard nothing but good things. I'm going to try to scam at least a few free drink tickets at each sportsbook for sure. By the way, hope you hit Carolina hard last night man! Been to vegas many of times, and will be there for a few days starting 4/22. I am 28, married and a poker player, who occasionally plays craps and bets a sports game here and there. Best poker is at Wynn (where i stay), Caesars, and Bellagio. Best buffets are Wynn, Bellagio and Rio. Best craps and black jack is at Casino Royale (place is like out of a movie). they have 3$ craps with 20x's odds,a nd if u bet 5$ or more, u get 100x's odds. They also have blackjack switch which if played correctly has virtually no house edge. Check out www.wizardofodds.com for info on proper play on both regular blackjack and blackjack switch. Best clubs are Tryst and Pure and have heard good things about the hard rock/pool. I have never been to a strip club in vegas so no advice there. I'll be playing poker, betting some nba playoff games, and playing a little craps. Enjoy!

Last time I was there, there was an old guy playing the "Don't Pass" for a ton of money, while the rest of us were playing the pass line for $3 with some small odds. We called him "The Cowboy" (he had a cowboy hat on) and people were mocking him every time we hit a point, even though he was losing hundreds maybe thousands of dollars and they were winning tens of dollars at best. I thought there was going to be an old fashion shoot out, but the Cowboy didn't say a word. In the end of course he did all right and most of us didn't. I guess he got his payback.

I'm not a huge fan of blackjack switch, but I may play a little when I'm there if I'm not hitting on the regular tables. In switch it seems like you either win big or get absolutely killed, and the latter seems more common. I've heard good things about Pure. The Pure club that just opened on Chippewa is really nice too. In the complex that used to be Level. Went there last Thursday night for the first time and was actually drinking with Whitner for a while, he was a really cool guy. Down to earth as hell. Took a shot of patron with him .

Never played the switch blackjack, will have to try next time I am out there(Oct.). Must admit would be weird pusing a 21 when the dealer gets a 22. I am a craps and Blackjack player, craps at off strip or smaller casinos to get the higher odds with small bets like you mentioned.

For me it is usually blackjack/craps & of course the sportsbook. I have been kinda down the last few times I have been there on the blackjack. It just seems to me more & more people just do not know how to play. I am strictly by the book blackjack player & I know it should be random(especially using 4,5,6 decks) but most times I see someone at the table making a dumb move 9 times out of ten it ends up costing the table the hand. One a**hole even split kings last time I was there. Could of punched him right in the head. That is why when I do play blackjack now I usually stick to the $25 min tables. At least there usually, people have a clue about how to play the game. The $5 tables, anything goes on those. Problem is with the $25 tables, you get a bad shoe & your down 3-4 hundred in about 20 minutes. Played very little Blackjack last time I was there. Mostly stuck in the SB & the craps tables.

JoeFerguson Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 I would like to re-iterate, the HARD ROCK POOL WAS UNDER CONSTRUCTION ONE MONTH AGO. Before I went to Vegas I re-read all the threads on TSW about Vegas. Everybody always suggests the Hard Rock Pool, so I went expecting to witness the most unbelievable orgy of all time. When I got there, all I saw was a bunch of sweaty dudes digging up sand.
taterhill Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 There are a few basics with Pai'Gow, like when to split pairs and what to play in your hand of 2....go on one of the poker sites online and play it for free to get the hang of it....also what is nice, if you do not know how to play your hand, you can hand your cards to the dealer and they play them how the book says for you...

Rest assured, when the weather starts heating up(like right now) they will have that pool open. Alot of people do not realize that the pools are shut down for about 3-4 months in Vegas because the weather is too cold. When I go there in Febuary every year all the hotels have their pools closed. The temps are usually only in the 50s/60s sometimes 70,s. Not warm enough to swim though. When Knockout is going, the temps are probably close to 100, the margarittas will be flowing by the poolside, & 20 years old hot girls will be wearing nothing but string bikinnis & looking for a good time. Man, I wish I was going with him.
Rubes Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Headin' there tomorrow, baby! Stayin at the Paris for the weekend...and eating at my favorite restaurant, Nobu, at the Hard Rock on Sunday.

Convince the wife to meet us down there then, my friend. We'll all kill it at the tables and spend it poolside with the women. Unless VEGAS does the killing on the tables, then we'll have to get by on looks alone...Kneeling down in prayer...

Something about women in theiir 3rd trimester of being pregnant that they get really cranky whenever their husband wants to do something fun.

Consider yourself lucky if you're only limited when your wife is pregnant. "Thou shall not enjoy oneself when the wife is not present" might as well have been in the vows at our wedding.

She is really good about letting me do things(golf on saturday, season tickets for the bills, going out with the guys on the weekends). Last month or so one word can describe her mood though. MISERABLE.
