Finally making my first trip to Las Vegas in May. Been looking forward to this for a longggg time :( . I'm sure many of you are veterans of the Vegas scene, and wanted to see if you have any tips/advice on things (and/or women) to do, places to see/eat, good bars/clubs, best casino sportsbooks, etc. Keep in mind that me and the friends I am going with are all in our early-20's, so we're not about to go there and sit at a slot at the Golden Nugget for 7 hours lol. Any advice would be excellent, thanks in advance!

As you may have guessed, I have been to vegas many times. I always stay at harrahs because i get free rooms there & pretty much everything comped. Let's just say my father-in-law is a very, very good client of theirs. I stay there because everything is free but there are much better places to go. As far as sports books, Ceasars has a nice one, but my last trip there(I go there for the super bowl every year) I was really impressed with Planet Hollywood's Sports book. All class, leather recliners, large screen tvs around the place. Only stayed there for a few minutes so I really do not know how they do their drinks. At Harrah's, you put a bet in at the SB & tip the guy a few bucks & ask him can I have some drink tickets. He usually gives you about three or 4. I never pay for a drink. If you play the slots or the tables the drinks are free. Order 2 because they usually take awhile to get there.

As far as going out, I know the Hard Rock is pretty good for hooking up. Especially if your young & single. Me & my friends used to go there all the time in my younger days(I am 35 & unfortunately married lol). Stay on the strip, dont stay in the old downtown(where the golden nugget is) that place is for the geezers that like to sit there all day with their $20 in their pocket playing the minimum on the penny slots. If your going to play the games & not just spend all your time in the sports book I would stay away from the slots. Unless they improved since I was there in Febuary, they were super tight. Slots are for the old ladies anyways, be a man & play some Blackjack & Craps for christsakes!!!! Start drinking from the time you get off the plane until the time you board the plane & I am sure you will figure out the rest.

Why does that just sound like really good advice for some reason? Haha, thanks.

Thanks for all of the advice, that's gonna help a lot. I NEVER play slots, almost all blacjack as far as table games go. Might sit in the poker room for at least a few hours though as well. I'm actually looking into staying at Planet Hollywood, have heard nothing but good things. I'm going to try to scam at least a few free drink tickets at each sportsbook for sure. :flirt: By the way, hope you hit Carolina hard last night man!

hookers, lots and lots of hookers

Be carefull if you go the Hooker route. Last Febuary I seen three times(in 4 days there) on the strip cops busting guys that were getting hookers. I do not know if they are cracking down on it or what. This one guy that went down with us(I really did not know him, he was friends with one of my friends that brought him down) told me that that the hookers were really cheap due to the economy. Told me he usually pays about $300 but was getting them for about $100. I actually ended up taking my wife on this last trip for the first time. My friend warned me this guy is going to get probably going to get a hooker every night so I kept my wife the hell away from him at all times. Luckily those 2 guys stayed at Ceasars. If she ever found out that any of my friends even thought about briinging home a hooker that would be the end of my trips with the guys.

I was just there last month with the wife, so I couldn't partake in the club, excessive gambling and hooker scene. We stayed half the time at a time share deal and the other half at the Venetian. I'll second the Ceasars sports book as one to check out. You'll have a blast.

planet hollywood. A+. Ive stayed there. Im going again. Great rates, and a nice, happening place. I love it when they parade all the hot chicks to deal the tables and dance after 10PM

Bellagio sports book might be the best. PH was also good.

one of my favorite things to do late night if things were slow... you go to a bar in the casino, play/milk 25 cent hands of video black jack, and get 12$ drinks for free. You just people watch, and people come in and you have some wild conversations with people from all over the world. You will also likely speak to the occasional hooker which is interesting.

Just be VERY careful for your drink tabs. Drinks in the casino are like $10 retail. Also, be VERY mindful where you eat. It could make a huge difference. You can walk in a restaurant and spend $80 a plate for mediocre crap, but 10 feet away, spend $5 for some really good grub. my first time, I really hosed myself in those 2 categories.

Go to the Palms if you are young, single, and looking for an overabundance of hot women

Can I go there if i am old, fat, married and just wanna look?

Use the valet parking- worth it. The casino workers know all the hookers and if thecops want to crack down, they can just ask the casino to point them out. My cousin is in maintenance at the NYNY night shift and they know all the hookers, they are there every night. make sure the room doors are securely closed. In the NYNY, the building is settling and some doors can be opened by pusing toward the hinges, although they may appear locked. They caught several ex-maids going through the building doing that.

Vegas veteran here, just about to leave my 30s. Haven't been in a while but for 5 or 6 years I was going every 6 months. I have a few things that I suggest as must see/do.

-Carnival Court: Located outside of Harrahs, it's a large circular outdoor bar with world class "flairtenders" (think "Cocktail" on crack). It's a fun time at night but I prefer to belly up to the bar sometime in the afternoon and enjoy the show. The bartenders are all about tips. Throw the girl a buck and she may open your beer with her forearm, throw her $5 she may juggle some liquor bottles before she pours your drink, throw her $20 and she'll do back flips with your beer down her pants, ok I made that one up. We actually found the best deal was to order the giant mixed drinks. Last time I went they made a 3 foot tall Long Island Ice Tea for $40, probably more than a full bottle of liquore in it.

-Spearmint Rhino: As someone who "grew up" going to the strip clubs in Fort Erie & Niagara Falls, I thought I would never find anything else comparable but Sprearmint Rhino is ridiculous. Smoking hot chicks, good value for your money (for a strip club) and the girls actually speak English. Tip: Call the club and have them send a limo for you. You'll get the car and cover for free. Seriously. They pay cabbies $ for bringing you there so it saves them money to come and get you.

-Monte Carlo Brew Pub: Not for everyone, but I love it. Located in the back (way way way back) of the Monte Carlo is a brewery that serves some pretty good beer and decent food. Over the years it's actually been a decent night spot too but very hit or miss. We usually do our pregaming there. As someone mentioned beers in the casinos if you aren't gambling are actually expensive, so we would go there and have a few of their giant "pitchers" (they're not really pitchers more like portable taps) and then head out for the night.

-Poker: I always suggest looking for the best spot to make some money. People will play at the Bellagio or Mirage because those are where the best play but why do you want to play with the best? Don't you want to win money? I used to stay at the Flamingo and play in their poker room. People staying there would come back from losing thousands at Bellagio and stop off in the Flamingo room trying to make their money back quick and wind up dumping off a couple hundred. I've done OK at the Mirage and MGM but Flamingo, Imperial Palace, Tropicana, etc. have been the most profitable, better off playing with tourists than people who know what they are doing, plus those games are usually more fun and laid back.

-Pool Beers: This is a game that started a long time ago. We always sneak our own beers into the pool. It's a great day time activity for when you aren't gambling. In the old days, you could bring a cooler down to the pool with you if you didn't have glass but most places have cracked down on this because they can charge you $5 for a beer in the sun and you'll pay for it. So now the challenge is on. We typically make sure someone brings a big backpack with them on the trip and then line that with a plastic bag and fill it with ice and beers. How you proceed from here depends on where you are staying. The 2 easiest ways to play this game are to find out what they serve at the pool and buy that or buy a big mixed drink your first day from the pool bar in some sort of souvenir cup and fill that up. You can try just sneaking around with your beers but that can be a pain. Really depends on the place and the cocktail waitress on duty. Good luck!

-Clubs: Not a huge club goer myself but usually once a trip we try to hit one up. If you've got the money bottle service is the way to go. A group of guys is going to have a tough time getting in any other way. We learned our first trip when we were first in line to get in a club (with 8 guys) and the bouncer looked past us and let in all the chicks behind us and any guy with a chick for like an hour. If you want to go to the best places ask a cocktail waitress or someone else young that works at the hotel and they usually know what the hottest spot is that night. Pretty much expect to tip the bouncer to get in, unless you're willing to wait for hours. There was a club (Tangerine @ TI, not sure if it is still around) that would give you a bracelet to get in and out, so we went there around 8, paid our cover had a drink and then came back at midnight when it was packed. I prefer to hit "last year's" club. It's a lot easier to get into the places that used to be the hot spot and usually there are still plenty of people and it's Vegas so everybody is having fun.

Hope that helps!

Appreciate you taking the time to write that all up, a ton of good tips that will help a ton. I was wondering where the most money to be won was as far as poker rooms go, and meant to identify that specifically, but you answered that question. I still might make my way into the Bellagio room though, sometimes it is easier to play against good players than tourists who have little idea of whats going on, aren't afraid to drop a quick G, and will therefore call with ANYTHING. That can get a little unpredictable and leaves bluffing almost out of the question at times. Thanks to everyone else too, keep 'em coming. I want to maximize my stay there as much as possible and this is a huge help!

Clubs...ask the concierge at your hotel for passes. The passes will let you cut the line, but you still may have to throw somw $$ at the doorman (depnding on the club/time of nite you go).

Pool...You must go to the Hard Rock Pool and get a cabana for the day. Hottest chicks anywhere during the day.
