Looks like it's in trouble. :)

Might be canceled

I haven't check it out yet but I'm gonna add it to my netflix queue.

Other than Pushing Dasies (and Life on Mars) which are canceled (as far as I know), I'd like to see Better off Ted and Terminator saved, from that list.

The Terminator appears to be drawing down rating of Dollhouse rather than helping it as originally planned for by schedule. I think Dollhouse is getting better when Sarah Connors series is losing focus especially without special effects money.

I was actually going to post a thread about Terminator after I watched last week's episode. I think the show really turned a corner for me last week; it seemed to jump to a new level and got beyond the "random fun show to watch" designation for me. I'm increasingly impressed with the story line and character development, and especially the show's willingness to kill off characters, which is exactly what would be expected given the storyline (though I figured they would lay off to cater to their audience). Seeing everyone die around them gives a lot of depth to both the John and Sarah Conner characters.

Where before I would have been disappointed to see it go, now I'll be kind of pissed if it doesn't get another season. Hopefully the new movie will give it a shot in the arm.

I also hope Dollhouse (there needs to be a Joss Whedon show on the air at all times) and Kings (just watched all the episodes the last couple days and think it really has great potential) stick around. I think Kings is destined for failure. It's just one of those shows that's too big to make it now-a-days. I wonder if Sci-Fi could pick it up now that BSG over? I know it's unfortunately rare for that to happen.

Oh, I have to mention CHUCK too. Certainly not a lot of depth here, but it's a fun show and one of my favorites on TV right now.

I personally think they're killing the characters because they know it's going to be cancelled. The show has tremendous potential, and it hits every now and then -- but there's usually many "dull" episodes that don't really do much for the story and aren't that interesting to watch.

It's not much different than a lot of shows -- Star Trek:TNG, for example -- but networks are quicker to pull the plug now (although to be fair, Terminator did get 2 seasons...).

One thing I read was that Warner Brothers gave Fox a big discount on the Terminator licensing fees so that they'd keep the show on the air as a platform for the new Terminator movie. Once the movie is done, Warner probably won't do that for next season. I hope it comes back too, but I Just don't see it happening.

Once a show is moved to Friday night, the death knell isn't usually far behind. There are a few historical exceptions, but typically networks don't move shows they are trying to help, to Friday night.

I wish that was true for 'Friday Night Lights' - if they moved it to, say, Tuesday, would they have to change the name to 'Tuesday Night Lights'? And, while I just love Jennifer Love Hugetits, how is is that 'Ghost Whisperer' is still on the air?

I don't think Friday Night Lights started out on Friday. I believe it originally aired on Tuesday. That's good marketing...no?

Awesome! Now maybe they can find another slot for it outside of Friday night so that it can actually try to get some ratings.

Fox plans to continue the show on Fridays next fall.

No such luck for you. Looks like Reeper and Chuck also are being renewed. I watch very little TV and this is good for me.

Maybe TV Executives are getting smarter and realizing Neilson Ratings are very over rated because many of the same shows are viewed by same households? Nah.

Where did you read about Reaper? I *love* that show, but haven't read about the renewal yet!

TV execs care about the rate advertisers will pay to be in the show, and the number of those advertisers. If the show got no ratings, and enough advertisers would pay big money to be in it, the show would stay on. If you have a gripe about how ratings are used, your first target is the way ad execs use ratings...not their TV counterparts (although there are plenty of reasons to bash them).

Life and Terminator get cancelled but this show lives on... how unfair.

Terminator isn't officially cancelled yet.

I like both Terminator and Dollhouse, but I have to say that Dollhouse has MUCH more potential. Lots of people stopped watching Dollhouse after the first couple of episodes, but that was a misake as the first 4-5 episodes were building up the world and showing how everyone fits into it. Everything started to fall into place around the middle of the season.

I enjoyed Terminator and hope it gets renewed too, but if I had to choose, I think Dollhouse is a far better choice based on what we've seen of them so far.

The new "V" was picked up by ABC as well -- hope they don't screw it up!
