Before the origin of the Wolverine is known, before the Decepticons return to Earth, before Marshall, Will & Holly are transported to a Lost Land, before Robert Langdon tries to prevent Illuminati, before the Ice Age trio encounters dinosaurs, before James T. Kirk goes on his first mission, before Larry Daley infiltrates the Smithsonian, before a group of guinea pigs save the world, before Melvin Purvis hunts down John Dillinger, before a 78 year old man's house is transported to the Venezuelan Mountains, before the boy wizard learns even more about the evil lord, before John Connor tries to save humanity, and before a group of real american heroes face Cobra, the Spring movie season comes to a close with a more subdued movie month that offers less boom and more laughs and drama. With the big Summer Season looming, April will try to continue to have the box office keep their record levels up.

In the Summer of 2001 fans of action movies were given a big jolt with Universal Pictures "The Fast and the Furious". The fast car action movie made stars out of Vin Diesel & Paul Walker, brought attention to Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster and spawned two sequels. Eight years later, all four of these actors(whose respective careers desperately need a boost) reunite for "Fast and Furious". As he is released from prison, Brian O'Conner teams up with Dominic Toretto to work with the feds to bring down a heroin importer by infiltrating his operation. No doubt that fans of the series will come out, especially since the original stars are back. Also it avoids the bigger movies of the Summer, so it will have those fans all to itself.

Universal also looks to court the non-popcorn movie fans with the big name pic "State of Play". Based on the BBC mini-series of the same title, a team of investigative reporters work alongside a police detective to try to solve the murder of a congressman's mistress. Starring Ben Affleck, Russell Crowe, Rachel McAdams, Helen Mirren, Jeff Daniels, Jason Bateman & Robin Wright Penn.

In the comedy "Observe & Report", Bi-polar mall security guard Ronnie Barnhardt is called into action to stop a flasher from turning a shopper's paradise into his personal peep show. Starring Seth Rogen, Anna Faris & Ray Liotta.

In "Hannah Montana: The Movie", As Hannah Montana's popularity begins to take over her life, Miley Stewart, on the urging from her father takes a trip to her hometown of Crowley Corners, Tennessee to get some perspective on what matters in life the most. There is always room for a family film, the big question is whether or not this movie will draw the same excitement as last year's Best of Both Worlds concert movie did.

In the oft-delayed "The Soloist", In Los Angeles, reporter Steve Lopez befriends Nathaniel Ayers, a brilliant but troubled musician and one-time Julliard student who currently lives on Skid Row. In a series of revealing articles, Lopez draws attention to Ayers's remarkable story, while Ayers still dreams of a grand performance at Walt Disney Concert Hall.

Starring Robert Downey, Jr. & Jamie Foxx.

In "Adventureland", During the summer of 1987, recent college grad James Brennan takes what he thinks is a going-nowhere job at his local amusement park, only to discover it's a perfect opportunity to prepare himself for the real world.

Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Kristen Stewart & Ryan Reynolds.

In "Dragonball:Evolution", The young warrior Son Goku sets out on a quest, racing against time and the vengeful King Piccolo, to collect a set of seven magical orbs that will grant their wielder unlimited power. Starring Justin Chatwin, Yun-Fat Chow, Emmy Rossum, Jamie Chung & James Marsters.

In "Fighting", In New York City, a young counterfeiter is introduced to the world of underground street fighting by a seasoned scam artist, who becomes his manager on the bare-knuckling brawling circuit. Starring Channing Tatum, Terrence Howard & Luis Guzman.

In "17 Again", Mike O'Donnell has lived a life full of regrets. Suddenly, he reverts back to his 17-year-old self who looks to navigate high school and create a path that leads to a better adult existence. Starring Zac Efron, Matthew Perry & Leslie Mann.

In "Earth", A documentary following the migration paths of four animal families.

Beyonce Knowles, Idris Elba & Ali Larter star in "Obsessed". A successful business man with a beautiful wife becomes the target of a female stalker.

Finally, Jason Statham & Amy Smart star in the ridiculous "Crank:High Voltage". When we last saw Chev Chelios, it appeared as though the assassin had met his maker. Wrong. For those of you out there that say Indiana Jones is ridiculous and unrealistic, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Anyone else think Crank 2 looks like it will be a really !@#$ing fun movie?

Hell yeah, I read Harry Knowles review at "Ain't it Cool News" and it got me fired up to see it. I loved the first one, and this one is supposed to be even more balls to the wall. I typically really enjoy Statham movies, so I'm looking forward to this one.

The problem is that Jason Statham might be getting too much exposure. I read that Crank 2 is his 5th movie in 15 months. He does have a fanbase, but it's always a good thing to space out your movies to whet the fans appetite for more.

You'll notice Crank 2 did not have a huge opening.

The same thing could be happening to Seth Rogen as well. Observe & Report had a poor opening.

Saw it on the weekend and though it was fun. It will be one of those movies that you like or hate. No in between. Some of the reviews at Rotten Tomato's are funny for it. A few made me chuckle.

You get an A for such posts ! Thanx and keep them coming. I am a movie buff too but not nearly to the extent you are (and I mean that in a good way).

Saw Crank High Voltage. That movie was fantastic from start to finish. Loved it. I left the movie theater with a smile.

I hope Chev Chelios returns for Crank 3.

Yeah, it's the wrong month to comment on this movie, but it better contain one of those "..and knowing's half the battle" moments.

Can't wait....sometimes you just need to chill with a film that is nothing but balls to the wall badass in order to relax

Is the Spinal Fusion re-make out yet? It is called Anvil and is about a Spinal Fusion like band except they are even dumber because they are Canadian. It seems to be less than original, but still funny.

Thanks Fan in Chicago. I always have fun doing these posts, even though they take some time putting together.

I used to just do the mainstream movies, but Kelly the Fair and Balanced Dog convinced me to post the independent movies as well.

I'm really looking forward to the Summer Season, especially the month of May, which will be a gigantic month.

What is most interesting is how the month of May has virtually become the premiere month during the summertime.

How many mall cop movies can be released in one year though?

"Observe and Report" is pretty different though. Maybe quite not what you expect. Rogan isn't really a likable character and the movie never gives in on it. He stays a bit of a prick. Kinda dark. I enjoyed it. The blonde hot chick in it is good as well. Don't know her name.

And it's always appreciated. I'm not sure if you've ever convinced me to see a movie, but I still look forward to this thread each month.

The blonde is Anna Farris and if you think shes hot do yourself a favor and rent "The House Bunny" its a Happy Madison movie and isnt that bad. It also has some sports cameos like Matt Lienart, Shaq.. and ESPN's Dan Patrick and Sean Salisbury of all people.

I thought Knocked Up, Superbad and all those early Rogan movies were funny... But am I the only one getting a little tired of seeing Seth Rogan in every comedy?
