Poeticlaw Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 I was reading that the Bills got last year and this years payment owed to to the Bills per their Lease agreement. I would have to assume that this agreement was made on the basis that ALL of their HOME games were played in WNY and not in CANADA. Feeling thats a safe assumption I feel the Bills should be obligated to give back the prrated amount for the HOME games Played in CANADA and not in WNY becuase WNY is seeing no increase in revenue with the games move to Canada only a decrease in Revenue. Somebody tell me if I am seeing this the wrong way or not

Even if they can, the pro-rated refund would be 1/18th of 4.9 million. Since the Bills can't get the 4.9, if that number changes to 4.5 is the county going to break out the checkbook?

They were told to get bent.

Poeticlaw Posted April 1, 2009 Author Posted April 1, 2009 It is for yearly maintenance on the stadium. I doubt it is based on games played. The county could probably argue this now. http://football.ballparks.com/NFL/BuffaloBills/index.htm "The Bills' stadium lease had been signed in 1998 by Giambra's predecessor, Dennis T. Gorski. The agreement assumed the Bills would play all of their home games in the county-owned stadium but let the team play home games elsewhere with county permission. Giambra in late 2007 quickly let them do so for the 2008 season, without trying to change any other terms. Gorski had negotiated the contract as he headed into an election year. When completed, it was considered both an extravagance and a triumph for Erie County. While the deal committed a fortune in taxpayer money, some $125 million through its life, the county didn't have to build a new stadium, as some other cities were doing for their NFL franchises. " After looking up more info I came acroos this link and bascially WNY didnot renegoaite the deal and give them permission to play the games in Canada. Sorry I find that to be a bone head move!
bills_fan Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 Waaahhh!! Give the money back! Waaaahhhh!! Clawback!! Waaaahhhhh!! Quit your whining.
apuszczalowski Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 Then would the County give them more money if they held a home playoff game???
GR8PRKN Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Then would the County give them more money if they held a home playoff game??? NO!

Somebody tell me if I am seeing this the wrong way or not Very funny. If New York State, Erie County and the city of Buffalo were not as broke and downtrodden as they are, the Bills would never have had to take games to Toronto in the first place. And here you are asking Wilson to refund the state some of their meager $3 Million per season? Here's a question for you. Have you heard that the state of Missouri, the county that the Chiefs play in, and the city of Kansas City are booming lately?? I haven't. And yet, they have put into place and approved most of a 350 Million Dollar renovation of Arrowhead Stadium being done right now. (I know the Hunt family also contributed to the renovation themselves, but most of the funding was public.) Stop whining about the economics of the Buffalo Bills. Just be thankful they are still here, representing Western New York, 7 out of 8 games a season. (Even if that drops to 6, I think it would be better then not having the Buffalo Bills at all.)
