Who knows...

Trump is facing bankruptcy with his recent casino holdings, so the idea that he can/would want to scrape together the billion or so needed to take over the Bills is extremely unlikely....

Not the worst idea but not likely. And as far as Trump goes I highly doubt it. Trump is a business man. He tries to make money with his investments. He could make more money investing a billion dollars in something else.

Thats true. Howevever, he could still make a lot of money (and get a lot of national attention) by purchasing an NFL team. Like I said earlier, imagine if he championed a Bills TV reality show. Also, you know that Trump would be on camera several times during each game- he and his hair would love that.... And if they ever made the superbowl, forget it! The national exposure would be insane.

Whoever buys them, lets just hope they have the BUFFALO Bills long term interests in mind!

From what I heard it was the Trump Casino that was in trouble and they basically only carry his name and he still owns a small portion of it but is not involved in running it. In fact the report said that his holdings in the company equal 1% of his net worth, so not a big deal.

It could be the Maloofs. They do already own two pro franchises, but didn't they threaten to move Sacremento to Las Vegas if a new arena wasn't built? That kind of scares me.

It's most likely Galisano.

it cant be the maloofs they'd have to sell the kings. you can not own a major franchise outside of the city you own teh NFL team in. this is why jacobs cant at the moment. it is most likely golisano or a silent partner none of us know of. but it can not be hte maloofs and probably is not trump

It was nice to hear Jim this morning while driving to work. He was on KTAR 620 with Doug and Wolf (Wolf being orchard park native and former NFL player Ron Wolfley)

Jim spoke very well about Hunters Hope and his reasons for being in Arizona to meet with the Gov about improving the number of dieses that they test for. Currently AZ is at 29 of 59, so he has some work to do.

He also spoke about the TO, and he feels that it was a good move. Said that the team needed to make the move after the fan backlash to the coaching staff being retained.

I also found it interesting he was asked about keeping the Bills in NY and while he spoke with much respect for Mr. Wilson he said the following; He (Kelly) has aligned himself with "someone" that has the same vision and means for keeping the team in WNY, and that when Ralph is ready to talk, he (Kelly) is ready to speak with him.

Any ideas on who he was speaking about? to hear the interview click on the link below. Great Interview...

Jim Kelly on KTAR 620

Great interview. A few random thoughts, sticking to the football part of the interview, (with heart felt respect for Jim & his family regarding Hunters Hope): Wolf sounds like Hulk Hogan, with his deep voice and telling Jimbo "you're the man, brother" at the end of the interview. I don't know who Kelly's business contact / billionaire or group of millionaires are, but he came right out and said he hoped Ralph "hands over the reins to him, sooner then later." Well, yeah sooner would be better, since Ralph will be gone and the team for sale to the highest bidder if later arrives first.

Finally, I don't get this Jim Kelly ownership thing at all. Jimbo has got to be one of the top 5 all time favorite ex-players of Ralph, if not the favorite one still alive today. He keeps tossing out confident comments about his plan to keep the Bills in Buffalo, with the name staying Buffalo Bills by the way, and guarantees us he has the contacts with the financial means to do it. Combine that with the fact Wilson has refused to move the Bills out of town for the last 50 years, and am I the only one who doesn't understand why Wilson has not at least met with Kelly and his people yet??

Well, Kelly is still my all time favorite Buffalo Bill player, and I will keep hoping against hope he can get Wilson to hear his plan before Ralph passes!

this whole thing makes no sense at all....

something does not add up.... We DO know this: that Kelly is going to look AWFULLY BAD if it turns out not to be true.

That gives me hope that maybe he has something up his sleeve...

If the team is not sold to Jim before Ralph passes on, and the team is up for bid, we have to hope the NFL rejects any group that plans to move them away and accepts a local bid by Jim and his group. The NFL owners would never keep the Bills in Buffalo out of the goodness of their hearts. How could you tell the Wilson family that they can't sell to someone from LA for 500 million more? You can't. Plus a move to LA or even Toronto is lucrative to those fat cats.

So that will not happen. We have to hope for a deal in place so that when Ralph goes, the price has been set and the team passes at fair value to Jim and his group.

I hate the fact that there will more or less be an auction for the team. Has that happened in the NFL before? Has that happened in any pro sport before? It's a shame Ralph was a carpetbagger and didn't have sons that were Buffalo guys.

I still have a feeling that it could be Donald Trump. Kelly and Trump go way back, the Donald has the means and is reported to be a Buffalo Bills fan.

Donald does own property in Buffalo & is a Bills fan...

Whatever the case...we should drop the logo and just stick with the standing Buffalo...

Kelly...Golisano...have all met with Ralph Wilson during training camps in the past about the Bills future...

I do. And I'm almost there. I have about $120 saved up in my drawer, so if the Bills move, I'll buy the Lions and move them across the lake to Buffalo. I'll be overpaying, but hey, it'll be fun.

I have another 50 to add if you let me be GM or coach or something. <_<

We really don't know if he has spoken with Ralph or not. Maybe he has, and has a

handshake agreement with him.

Just seems that Kelly keeps talking about how he has the means to pull this off. Hope

he's right.

Anybody mention the possibility of Bob Rich Jr.

He is actually the wealthiest person with strong ties to Buffalo. A great sports fan. I always suspected that his silence during the Sabres bankrupcy period may have been a sign he was holding out to move on the Bills.

Anyone know of any ties between Jimbo and Bob Rich Jr.?

Also, I would have more doubts of Jimbo if he just mentioned this once or a couple times. But the fact that he repeatedly says this gives me comfort that he has something legit up his sleeve. I dont think he would risk coming off like a botard when the time comes and his big investors are Thurman Thomas and Steve Tasker.

Jim spoke at length at the Frank Reich breakfast last weekend regarding the future of the Bills. I wasn't videotaping when he made the comment or I would post it. Essentially he said that he guaranteed that the Bills future would be set in Buffalo for "at least the next 20 years or more". Those words stuck in my mind -- hence the quotes. I leaned over to one of my colleagues sitting next to me and asked if Jim just guaranteed that the Bills will stay and he saw it exactly the same way.

BTW, if it is Rich that has the interest .... it would be great to go back to Rich Stadium.

Buffet is a far better businessman than Trump. He is very careful as to where he spends his money. He would never buy a football team--esp. the Bills.

Wegman is out--he doesn't have that kind of money and, besides, Russ somehow ruined the very cozy relationship that the Bills had with Wegmans, a relationship that brought the Bills to Rochester and was a substantial source of corporate sponsorship.

This Kelly story is only being kept alive by Jim's occassional hinting about his deep pocketed friends. Golisano is the only one who is likely in this region.

Ralph should have sold the team long ago, when the finacial burden of buying a team was not as stifling and when the economic environment was more supportive. Any new owner who wants to move the team has to have a place to go to. LA will likely never put together a stadium deal without substantial public money and the state is dead broke. Toronto's stadium is too small. Besides, as has already been pointed out, to buy and move a team (a huge moving fee to the league) and contribute some debt to a new stadium would be nearly impossible in this economic climate.

That Ralph has no post-mortem plan for the fate of his beloved Bills tells you all you need to know about how he views his only valuable investment/income asset.

So it's Jim Kelly, a conglomerate of Fort Erie Strip Clubs, the Russian mofia, and Jimmy Griffin's ghost?
