BillsVet Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Don't have any clue who this guy is. Sounds like Camp Fodder and another in a long line of potential special teamers. Thomas per PFT

Magox Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Sorry if this has already been posted. http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/03/18/...ads-to-buffalo/ That's a surprise. At least to me it is. I read that he is good athleticism, sideline to sideline player. Pretty much has been hampered with injuries, but has shown promise.
MattyT Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 I suppose we can make a pretty good guess as to why they waited so long to make this move.
BillsGuyInMalta Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Man, this better not be the answer to our OLB woes. We better see Cato June signed tomorrow or something.
Stussy109 Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 He will be comparable to the CB we signed last year Will Poole/thomas i hink his name was. If we draft a good LB he will be cut, if we don't, he'll have a roster spot. He's an insurance move.
murra Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 That's a terrible move. We've basically just added depth at the position with another terrible LB. Then again, a team that felt fine with Ellison probably enjoys the signing of a sixth round pick who played 9 games with the team we were able to score 50+ points on.
markghbelobils Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 theres our starting olb.... guarantee thats it in free agency for line backers.
BillsGuyInMalta Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Ah, and another 1 year deal. The Bills LOVE that contract.
silvermike Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Kansas City played a Tampa-2 under Herm last year, right?
LabattBlue Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 On a positive note, the Bills signed a LB who weighs more than 220 pounds!
San Jose Bills Fan Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Pat Thomas in college: In 50 career games at North Carolina State University with 36 starts, he recorded 334 tackles, 38 tackles for a loss, 15.5 sacks and five forced fumbles. Scouts Inc. has no grade or evaluation of him. Birth Date January 26, 1983 Birth Place Vallejo, CA Height 6-1 Weight 237 lbs. Age 26 Position LB Experience 5 years College North Carolina State
Magox Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Man, this better not be the answer to our OLB woes. We better see Cato June signed tomorrow or something. I get the feeling this is the FA LB signing for the offseason. We all ready have Digiorgio, Ellison, Buggs, Bowen, Poz, Mitchel and now Thomas.
PushthePile Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 That's a terrible move. We've basically just added depth at the position with another terrible LB. Then again, a team that felt fine with Ellison probably enjoys the signing of a sixth round pick who played 9 games with the team we were able to score 50+ points on. HaHaHaHa! Terrible move? You say it like they publicly announced Pat Thomas is going to be our starting OLB and he will be taking a few snaps under center this year. Take a few deep breaths and count to ten.
H2o Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Sorry if this has already been posted. http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/03/18/...ads-to-buffalo/ Whoop-tee-flippin-do This guy might be decent, he might not. I just hope this isn't our "answer" to the need at LB.
BillsGuyInMalta Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 I'm okay with this move for depth purposes, NOT for starting material. If the Bills continue to look for OLB help, then all is well.
BillsBum11 Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Pat Thomas Pat Thomas is a former sixth round pick in '05, and has missed a lot of playing time due to various injuries. The team likes his speed and hitting abilities, and if it wasn't for his injury, could've seen increased playing time in '06. Strengths: Speed, good hitter, special teams. Weaknesses: Doesn't cover particularly well, isn't sudden. ^this from Jaguars scouts in 07 I think he will be on the roster barring injury..when do we not keep a guy whos strength is special teams But starting OLB is still a problem
San Jose Bills Fan Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 He won the Chiefs starting middle linebacker position before getting injured in week 10 with what ended up being a severe hamstring pull. He was not invited to the combine after his senior season and was timed at 4.86 in the forty. Looks like a backup/special teams/camp body type player.
