Then how do you explain this?

How is "superior" defined? Average level of health or more specialists who can treat those who can afford to pay?

I'll have to remember this argument too: one data point to make a generalization.

This is just one of many similar data points - ie people who want better and faster treatment, go to the US.

It's also another free rider that Canada sponges off the US. No need to invest in groundbreaking medicine, because the bully to the south will take care of it for you.

I don't think she's coming here for treatment.

You're in America. It's defined as the latter.

So, your point here seems to be, if you have enough money to pay for it, you can get the best treatment in the USA.

While I'm not even sure that is true, across the board, what does that have to do with the regular health care system in the USA?

US citizens regularly travel to India and Mexico for medical treatment, as they can't afford the procedures in the USA. Many order their prescription drugs from Canada, at reduced prices. So, using your logic, those examples must refute a claim that the US has better health care than Canada, India and Mexico.

I love this forum. Most people after reading an article about a woman suffering brain death following an accident would have the instant reaction of feeling some degree of grief. Your reaction on the other hand was to co-opt this tragedy as a great opportunity to crowbar the tired "If Canada's so great" talking point onto a Buffalo Bills message board of all places. Amazing!

Probably because brain death doesn't seem all that debilitating to us any more, after reading your posts.

The cheaper drugs in Canada is another scam over a gullible public. The only reason that the drugs are cheaper is that big pharma winks at Canadian price controls, because they get their returns from the US. Once you try to equalize the system by freely allowing Canadian imports of brand name patented drugs, then drug companies won't sell to Canada under price controls anymore. If you try to cap the US costs, then you'll throw the industry under the bus and kill hi end, blue sky research.

PS - in case it isn't obvious to the enlightened crowd, this is not a Buffalo Bills message board, and Canada and socialism bashing are far from out of place here. Maybe you can tell me that what passes on the main board is real football talk, too.

Are you new to the English language? Your post should read as follows- "Probably because, after reading your posts, brain death doesn't seem all that debilitating to us any more."

Who cares about grammar? A woman has been injured and is now brain dead. That is not a joking or debatable matter to the family.

Tom didn't bring up grammar, in this thread.

BTW, isn't this whole thread fairly worthless? If you have enough money, you can buy good health care (and justice!) in the USA.

Hooray for us!

I'll take a stab at explaining it. Maybe she left Montreal for New York City because she actually lives in New York City. Sounds crazy doesn't it?

Conflicting reports Tuesday night had actress Natasha Richardson "brain dead" and being flown home to New York for a sad family farewell, or suffering from "brain swelling," a potentially catastrophic condition, but not necessarily with the tragic end that many fear is at hand for the wife and mother of two, a member of Britain's most respected acting clan.

This much is known: Richardson was flown to New York Tuesday afternoon after being treated at a Montreal hospital. On her arrival here, it was unclear whether she was being transferred to a hospital or a private home.

Some published reports said the move came so that her mother Vanessa Redgrave, the actress' two children and loved ones could say goodbye, before she's taken off life support. Richardson's representative did not return a call from Newsday Tuesday night.

That's one of the many motivations to be successful.
